Spicy Urban Succubus Fantasy with elements of supernatural multi-partner relationships, harem elements, and light character progression.
Please read warning and author’s note below.
University life can be a real grind, and for twenty-two-year-old Dane Staley that means long hours in the library and not a lot of time for a social life. Not that he’s complaining. As a self-confessed bookworm, the library is a place of comfort for him. That is until he goes in search of research materials in a little used section of the lower level and his life changes forever.
Most people’s eyes aren’t ever opened to the reality that humans aren’t the only inhabitants of this world. How will Dane cope when he’s confronted with the truth and everything that comes along with inadvertently binding himself to a supernatural being? Will he succumb to the pressure or rise to the occasion?
Find out in this spicy urban-fantasy romance, with lots of paranormal intrigue and self-discovery.
Accidentally Summoned Succubus is a spicy urban fantasy adventure. It is obviously pure fantasy, so expect unrealistic over-the-top spicy/steamy situations, some wish fulfillment, a little sophomoric humor, strong language, and a heavy helping of naughty bits. Oh, and a bunch of supernatural creatures, too. Disclaimer and author’s This is not an alpha adventure. The main character is intentionally not an alpha-male who dominates and takes charge, especially not in the beginning of the story. He is a young man completely out of his element, who is thrust into a situation that exposes him to a fantastical new world and new possibilities. He struggles with his new role, and with help, he begins to grow into his new situation and abilities. He sees the friends and lovers he gathers along the way as partners, not as subjects. I understand the alpha-male trope is popular and there are many authors who explore it very well. However, it is not a trope I explore in this story or this series. I’ve added this disclaimer to try to clarify what my story is and avoid failing to meet any reader’s expectations who were looking for something different.
Thanks for reading and if you choose to give my book a try, I truly hope you enjoy it.
Decent smutty urban fantasy story, though the MC is a serious wimp who needs to progress faster to be more than that. This is addressed in the story, so it's intentional, but still frustrating in the early stages. Nothing spectacular, but drew me in enough to give book 2 a shot when it arrives.
The story is very similar to Elliot Kay’s Good Intentions, but substitutes a dryad for the Angel while still hinting at the larger world of magic and supernatural creatures. Sadly, the book has a lot of summary telling through where character and relationship development are glossed over, which is where the story falls very short compared to Kay’s work. The fact that the main character continues to doubt himself throughout the story is also rather annoying, for some reason authors in this genre seem to think that a “caring” male character must be whiny and weak, even going so far as to give him a stereotype jock bully which never made any sense except to have the character as a very weak cliche. Still, there is a lot of room for world building in the series going forward - but given the amount of telling and summary in this first book I’m not going to hold my breathe when it comes to the sequel.
This book surprised me. I expected something shallow just a string of spicy scenes but there’s an actual story with character development here. Dane is not an alpha by any stretch. He feels like a real 22-year-old student who suddenly finds himself way out of his comfort zone. The succubus he summons isn’t just a convenient fantasy figure; she pushes him, challenges him, and sometimes completely overwhelms him. The romance, though unconventional, actually has some sweet moments tucked between the steam. I also appreciated the author’s note, because it set my expectations right: this isn’t about domination and control, it’s about exploration, mistakes, and partnership. Some readers might find the humor a bit juvenile, but honestly, I laughed out loud a few times. Overall, it’s a spicy urban fantasy romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why I enjoyed it.
Ok I am so impressed with your story I loved the main characters and found the setting to be an enjoyable use of a common set up with the University. I am looking forward to reading more of this story and I liked the softer build of the characters and the interaction. Thank you for your hard work. I borrowed my sons account to read this And was good I found it. P.s. I do read alot of my books based on art used, would love to see art of the characters if possible, very nicely done
Overall this was a pretty good read, albeit very short. Writing in this genre tends to be short, but at less than 250 pages this book is much shorter than usual even in the genre. The writing could also use a bit of work - the first chapter had me concerned, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. Another reviewer compared it to Elliot Kay's Good Intentions, and that's not a bad comparison. though this book isn't nearly as good, it's still enjoyable enough and worth a read. I'm hoping to see the supernatural community fleshed out a bit more in the second book.
This was a LOT better than I thought it would be. Seriously.
Dane is a bookworm and stumbles into a pretty grim ritual space under the library. And there accidentally summons a succubus (who chooses to be called Maeve).
One of the aspects of the story I find wonderful is that Dane slowly grows into greater strength and speed (and abilities), but finds that somewhat higher strength and a few martial arts lessons don't stop him from getting his ass kicked in a fight.
His deepening relationship with Maeve is utterly wonderful. Great storytelling. Great characters.
This was a surprise and I did not think that I would like the characters enough to get the second book. At the end of this book though, I wanted to know what happens to the characters. Good set up for book #2 in the end of this book.
The sex is fairly graphic, but not quite Penthouse Letters. All sex has been without condoms (even with the stripper), and other than some very brief and light lesbian sex (again with the stripper) all sex has been hetero.
I find the MC's roommate irritating, and hope that character improves in the next book.

Yesterday I read the not so good “The Scarlet Cavern” - divorced man falls into alternate world full of attractive women and a few fertile men. He has lots of sex. Goodreads recommended a few similar titles so, at random, I picked “Accidentally Summoned Succubus”. University nerd accidentally summons a sex demon, has lots of sex (including a threesome), gains confidence, comes into magical powers, and … Of the two it is slightly better written but that's about it. 2.5 Stars, reduced to 2 Stars.
The first chapter is especially slow in this one, but once you are past it the characters carry the tale quite well. By the end of the book you are wanting to know more about (almost) everyone.
The antagonists are very cardboard, but they serve their roles perfectly well. And, again, the protagonists are likable enough to give it a pass.
This is an entertaining book. The main characters are good people who want to do the right things for the right reasons. No bad motives or Mafia (can I say that?) types here. A college student accidentally summons a succubus. What kind of problems and benefits could come from that? The plot is light, the steamy.parts are that, and even though there is a second book, this does have a satisfying ending.
DNF. I got less than 3 hours into this book on audio (about 1/3 of the way through). MOST BORING SEX SCENES EVER. Has this author even HAD sex??!! They're short, almost perfunctory, like he has to get them done as some kind of technical obligation before moving on with slowly changing the MC into the badass he's now destined to be. No detail, no sensuality, no build-up, and over barely after they've begun. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE MINE WAS.
Boring; difficult to finish. The MC is Clark Kent without the Superman; a complete simp. It was super hard to like a character without a spine, who for some reason, was in constant disbelief on everything. Also, the sex was...sad. I genuinely wished the author did a "just fade to black", rather than describe the sex scene. No one wants to read about a one pump chump. The whole series, was like reading about dying sick kid's last wish; that was left unfulfilled.
This first book was both believable with the situation as it was frustrating due to Dane's low self esteem issues like the author warned us about so as he slowly, but magically make progress, it helps make this series one world like to see what will happen next for Dane and Maeve.
For a book about a succubus in the haremlit genre you don’t often find something with this much heart. The romance is slow burn but so rewarding. The characters are awesome and the story is fun. It’s a low stakes slice of life and totally worth a read.
While not my usual genre, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was enjoying this story. The characters, while somewhat cliche, were good. The rules of the world were clearly explained. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is cuz the ending kind of felt abrupt? Maybe if it was built up earlier, but the main plot of Dane and the Succubus was great.
Great story, even if the MC was annoying at first. I loved the way it progressed, and I like the direction it appears to be taking. I hope it won't be a long wait for book two. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Wasn't expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Not your typical nerd story about suddenly developing super powers. Characters are much more developed and well rounded. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Way better than I had thought. Mr. Miles got the characters right and the pacing was great. A good introduction to the world but he spent his time on the relationships between the characters. Loved it!
If you like good relationship development, this is the book for you! What a great start to the series, and after reading the teaser for book 2 I simply cannot wait for it.
It was a good read that didn't have a tool wannabe alpha clown or a whiny crybaby. It seems too many of these have to have one or the other these days. Looking forward to the next.
One of the more entertaining and readable books of this genre that I have read. Amusing and spicy, without too many incredible occurrences taking place. I look forward to the next in the series. A ‘chilli con carne’ of a book. Spicy, and leaves you wanting more.
While i did not research the book as much as i normally do i was pleasantly surprised by what i found in these pages. Definitely get more of a paranormal romance vibe but excellently written.
It’s definitely a spicy adventure. The plot was interesting and something new to me. Fun watching how Dale adjusted to everything very quickly. Will definitely check and see if the author has more books out there. Recommended.
