Beautiful book, beautiful person

I met Captain Jenn aboard the Yankee Sunshine on a beautiful fall day. She is full of sunshine and faith. I enjoyed reading Captain of My Own Ship. Her struggles are real and she came out the other side. It is a short read, but a good testimony to changing your life.

HB-M, @ 2023, Read 1/3/25. Nonfiction, Abuse, Fear & Courage, Self Help, Inspirational.
In September of 2024, husband, son, daughter-in-law, and I were spending some time together at our cottage in northern Michigan and saw an advertisement for a glass-bottomed boat ride out of Cheboygan into Lake Huron and decided to take the tour. The Captain of the boat was Jennifer Dowker, the author of this book. It was nearing the end of the boating season, and also the end of our vacation time together.
It was a bit windy and wet, but we thoroughly enjoyed the day, the ride, the other passengers, the fun, and the inspiring talk by the Captain. This Captain talked of how she overcame her fears, survived her abusive husband, dreamed, set a goal, and worked to achieve it to provide a better life for her three young sons and herself. This book tells her story, and the proceeds help other women suffering the same abusive relationships.
5☆'s = Excellent - What an inspiring story of courage and perseverance!
