Red Grooms is an interesting contemporary artist whose work encompasses everything from films and performance art to sculpture, drawings, print making and paintings. This book covers the first half of his career--1956 to 1984. The quality of the color plates is just OK, but the essays that accompany them were very helpful to me in understanding his work.

The Museum of Fine Arts in St Petersburg is fortunate to have one of the paintings featured in this book (Kids Watching Me Paint--page 102).
