Alphina is falsely accused of plotting to assassinate Saint Debonaire. Time rewinds every time she’s executed for a crime she didn’t commit, but with the cruel Saint Debonaire against her, the same fate awaits Alphina ninety-nine times in a death by decapitation.
But something different happens the hundredth time around. Just as Alphina is preparing herself for yet another execution, she discovers that she can hear people’s true feelings—and that everyone secretly loves her! Can Alphina take advantage of her newfound ability and sidestep her fate at the guillotine?
This one helped to take the edge off of my work day. I enjoyed the MC h and the comeuppance of the Big Bad, though it seemed a tad anti-climactic. Also, I understand why series are so popular, but is it too much to ask for a really well-written standalone? Series tend to peter out and not be sustainable unless they are incredibly amazing.
The male characters in this one were kind of OTT re: their love for the heroine and it was kind of sad that the MC h didn’t have a trustworthy, or any, female friend, so this did not pass the Bechdel test as the only other women were the Big Bad who was constantly called a sow mentally by the MC h and the mother who was constantly fainting all of the time and perceived as weak because of it. I’m not even sure if the mother was named, maybe once?
So, not a great book, but not horrible either. It did what I needed it to do, entertained me enough to keep me calm at work.
3, it had its pluses and minuses, stars.

Absolutely hilarious! I love their shenanigans, they're absolutely ridiculous. Funniest story I've read in years. Thank you, Author. I truly hope there's a color manhwa one day.
Initially, I thought that the main character's behavior could be explained by the trauma of experiencing her murder 99 times. But, as you go through the story you find out all of her behavior is standard for all of her behavior up to date. It's almost like you think she has some crazy in her from experiencing herself die over and over again but in actuality that didn't seem to actually affect her very much at all. In actuality, I can't help but feel that she is heartless.
Spoilers ahead...
After being trapped in the last few weeks of her life on repeat, she is experienced in prisonment and betrayal so many times with no hope of freedom that the thought that she wants nothing to do with any of the people if she were to escape makes perfect sense. The madness of being trapped in a cycle of horror with logically make anyone lose some of their empathy. However, she wakes up one day with the ability to read minds. She then finds out that everybody around her that's involved with her setup is under a spell made into puppets by the villain. The little perspective should have had some influence over her condition. I guess, that's assuming she's actually a good person.
Suddenly given all the power she needs to escape the cycle of death, she goes ahead and does it. But along the way, she discovers through mind reading that all the people around her that have set her up to die 99 times... Well I guess a hundred if you count the present life... We're all being immensely tortured because they had no control over their actions. It wasn't a straight hypnosis or mind control, they were fully aware of their own entrapment. Despite this, she decides to fake her own death using a magical copy of herself and get her revenge on the villain at the same time. She selfishly wants to just throw her life behind her and go live in the forest and do her own thing. She does not care about the trauma her family experiences nor does she care about the trauma of the people who suddenly free from the spell have to live with the horror that they murdered their favorite person. She literally doesn't care that her fiance, who loves her deeply, Is emotionally destroyed because under the spell he was forced to give the order to have her decapitated. The first thing he does when he has control over his body again is cradle the bleeding head of the fake her and cries and screams. How can you possibly like a person who has no empathy after seeing something like that?
So I thought it was just the side effect of her being traumatized over and over again from her own experience and that she is just a little bit crazy. Unfortunately, you get more and more flashbacks to her past behaviors and she's like this all the time!
So maybe she is traumatized and crazy, and has had some kind of impact. Benefit of the doubt right? 3 months of living her best life she finds out that her death has had so much influence that the kingdom is on the border of both civil war and war with their neighbor, everybody who was involved with her directly and her dad have had their lives utterly destroyed with despair, and she still doesn't care.
Face to face with someone who desperately loves her and cherishes her who is carrying the trauma of feeling responsible for her death... She still does not care.
On a side note, the story and characters feel very entertaining and likable provided you don't think about the ethics and bad personality of the main character. It's a fun read, I laughed a lot. I also felt deeply sorry to all the poor souls who got stuck in the middle between the villain and the main character. The amount of suffering those poor souls must have gone through during the three months that she was just hiding out... It just creeps back into my mind every time I try to overthink the story I just finished reading. The author definitely has a good talent for writing entertaining stories, and I find myself hating the fact that I sort of enjoyed reading the book. I just can't stand the main character. She's awful!
Alphina has been falsely accused and executed 99 times, but on her 100th time through, she starts to hear the thoughts of those around her. And these people are nothing at all like the front they present to the world. Will this new power be enough for Alphina to survive?
So this is a comedy that's playing with all the tropes you should expect from the title. The overly exaggerated nature of most people's inner self didn't really click with me, so I was amused at points but not enough to laugh.
Alphina herself mostly just wants to get away from it all and live a peaceful life, but ironically the Saint is what prevents her from making a clean exit. The fact that this two-faced schemer can compel people to follow her will has left the whole world in chaos, and eventually Alphina realizes she needs to step up or something even worse is going to happen.
Overall this is decent enough, but it's really going to depend how much you click with the humor. I rate this book Recommended.
At the risk of sounding very creepy, Alphina has gotten used to the day of her execution. Well that's what you'd expect out of someone who had the bad luck of reliving it 99 times! Opening her eyes to her 100th life, she can now hear people's thoughts - but why does the Prince who's supposed to off her sound so head over heels for her?
This was written as a comedy and I love how absolutely nothing about this was taken seriously. Despite dealing with stuff that could have been heavy - the trauma of meeting 99 ends, having no choice but to hurt someone you love - this takes all of that, sets it aside as optional context, and instead focuses on how damned embarrassing people sound like when they think nobody else is listening. But also at one point Alphina says "in order to stop the Saint's villainy, I have returned from the grave" and if that isn't hardcore then IDK what is!
It was a refreshing twist to have her decide to leave instead of trying to fulfill her original life. Hearing the thoughts of others…hmm. It was useful but amateurish in writing. Dunno why the prince had to sing in his own thoughts, and the Saint is squealing. I also was baffled and put off a bit by the constant reference to the Saint as a “sow” by Alphina. That’s kind of a weird insult to use…and TBH reminds me of hentai translations.
A daughter of a duchy is not a princess, so I think the author has some confusion on nobility. He overdid it on having people be so terrified of Lio even as a kid, freaking out that they might have misidentified what he was drawing. And the religion. It clearly said Xenos was higher than the *other eleven* gods, yet his church is the only one. How does that make sense??

I absolutely enjoyed this book. The characters were fun and the plot interesting. I enjoyed the strong fmc and seeing her humorous interactions with her companions. This was a fun and light hearted novel.
OMG this book was so funny! The heroine is a tomboy and not very romantic at all, so the romance in this book is actually rather light, but it was still entertaining.
Can’t do it….. fun to start then inner voices and random moments got too eccentric. However, inner voices will always be a little out there, so I guess it portrayed that well…..? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Kind of interesting! This is pretty different from most light novels I’ve read and I would place it as most similar to my next life as a villainess. It’s a comedy where the heroine can read as asexual aromantic but every man around her is desperately in love. Needs more female characters but not bad.
