Another absolute classic from Agatha Christie.
I am reading through the Poirot series currently and this is easily my second favourite.
And once again a good twist at the end.

This is still my favourite of all Agatha Christie’s books. The red herrings are perfectly placed, the tension builds slowly and the ambiguous motives of those involved all collide to create delicious tension in this Hercule Poirot mystery. The fabulous twist in this latest edition is that you either have an envelope at the end of the book or in my case a QR code to scan to have the final chapters emailed to you, it gives you time to reflect on who you think the murderer is. I love this twist as I have the version of And Then There Were None with the same pause and reflect section.

Roger Ackroyd is murdered, he was supposed to be alone and had been overheard arguing with someone over money earlier prior to his death. The open window may suggest an outsider and with the obvious suspect so conspicuously absent it should be clear cut, but Poirot and his little grey cells perceive that all is not as it should be. Told from the point of view of the village doctor in lieu of our beloved Hasting. This is a wonderful view on village life, gossip and thought processes. As with all Agatha’s works, she lays the clues out for all to see but the twist will get you! Even having read this book numerous times I still find little clues layered amongst the chapters that I didn't spot before. Truly fantastic murder mystery.

I absolutely love Christie, her writing is sublime and her imagination is second to none. I have a fair few left to read but this has to be one of my favourites so far. Another one to keep in my personal library, I'll likely have a whole bookcase full of her books at this rate. Five star read!!!
