The UFO Singularity: Why Are Past Unexplained Phenomena Changing Our Future? Where Will Transcending the Bounds of Current Thinking Lead? How Near is the Singularity?
"At the forefront of a new generation of UFOlogists, Micah Hanks is someone who isn't afraid to tackle new paradigms, ideas, and theories. The future of flying saucer seeking is in good hands!" —Nick Redfern, author of The NASA Conspiracies
Why and how are past unexplained phenomena changing our future?
Where will transcending the bounds of current thinking lead?
How near is the singularity?
The UFO Singularity finally reveals what UFO phenomena can tell us about greater-than-human intelligence, and offers provocative theories of where such intelligence might originate. You'll explore the most challenging metaphysical questions and the latest scientific thoughts about them,
A fascinating deep dive into the subject matter of The UFO Singularity. A look at where UFOs might possibly come from, a look at the technology behind them, and so much more. This book was written quite a bit ago but I still find it very relevant today.
There is so much wild info packed into it. It is definitely one I want to read again to fully absorb what is talked about within the pages. As someone who has a fascination with weird books, this one was definitely weird and on the outer limits.
Nice effort but no. Some researchers have been around for so long, and still are trying to force a human prosaic explanation for the phenomena. Also, the book correlates very little of the singularity and the subject matter, it does fall short and it sounds a bit dated to me, I was expecting way more.
This was ok. There are some great ideas, although those ideas are not new. I think this is more suitable for people who have not been stuck down a UFO rabbit hole for decades. The writing was great too though. The author must be a fascinating person.
Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." And that is exactly what the present volume, Micah Hanks', "The UFO Singularity" is about.
Are we being visited by time travellers? How about inter-dimensional travellers? Is the universe a big Matrix? Are we programs in said Matrix? These seem more likely explanations for some UFO reports after evaluating the evidence, rather than the ET hypothesis.
The present volume deals in trans-humanism and the singularity (when artificial intelligence is on par with or indistinguishable from human intelligence) and asks us to ponder the possibility that what those pesky ten percent of stunning UFO reports reveals, is something akin to magic we just don't yet understand. Could they be, as Richard Dolan coined, a Break Away Civilization which first showed itself in the late 1890s airship sightings? Could someone somewhere have had a head-start before the public flight of the Wright brothers? We don't know.
What I took away from this read was that there is something to the UFO phenomena that we can't pin down because we, looking in from the outside, are just not smart enough yet. Going back to Clarke's quote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" remains fitting as a description of what may be going on and the present volume begins that discussion.
A truly fascinating look into the real UFO phenomenon and a glimpse of what the future holds. I have read several books on the subject of UFO’s but have never seen an author take this very different approach to the study of this aerial phenomenon. Are these flying vehicles from another inter-stellar galaxy or another dimension? Are they in fact us from the very distant future travelling back to our present time only to gawk at our primitive ways? Or perhaps, they are the result of some top secret military operation or the secretive constructions of some break away society advancing well beyond the common man. This book opens up all of these possibilities and with the ever encroaching singularity approaching, some of these ideas bare contemplation. If you enjoy UFO’s or Ray Kurzweil and the Singularity or just like to entertain futuristic thoughts, then this is a must read for you.
