Pass your private pilot checkride now in it's 2nd edition, is a compilation of checkride examiners favorite questions to ask. Learn the questions and answers you'll be asked before the checkride even starts. It's like having an open book test!
I completed my check ride! This book is a must read for anyone preparing for their PPL/ASEL practical exam. If you can answer all the questions in this book from memory then you're going to do great on the oral portion of your exam.
Well I passed my checkride with flying colors. Was it thanks to this book? Probably not.
Pass Your Private Pilot Checkride is another tool in your arsenal for getting schooled up on the intimidating amount of knowledge you need to have to get your private pilot's license.
Schappert's delivery is extremely dull, as he spouts one fact after another with zero explanation or expansion on anything. These are, however, exactly the same kind of questions that you will get from a DPE on your checkride. If you know everything in this book, you'll be prepared.
The way I would recommend using this is to go through ground school with your CFI, then browse or listen to Schappert's book after you have a base of knowledge. If you try going into this cold, nothing is going to stick and it'll do you no good.
I listened to this as the audiobook. I probably wouldn't have had a problem with the written book, but the author narrating the audiobook sounds like he's on the verge of yelling every answer, like you won't understand if he teaches in a normal conversational tone. He also explains topics as though he's speaking to a very dull child (ie: he explains what an acronym is about 10 times per acronym, every time there is an acronym. In case you forget in the space of one sentence what he is talking about). This book is absolutely grating to listen to.
Skip this book and stick with the ASA Oral Exam Guide. Nearly all his answers in this book are taken from the ASA book.
The audiobook was very handy to listen to over and over while I was on walks or working out. The version that I listened to was 3.0 and a lot of the regulations were out of date. It didn't talk about basic med for example, but overall it was helpful in helping me pass my final checkride.
Really great review for the check ride! I feel significantly more prepared; Jason explains the important things to know very eloquently and succinctly.
I’m still in private ground and this even helped me a lot with the FAA questions. Definitely a book I am going to continue to listen to a lot as I continue on my PPL.
