This book may be a bit outdated but the rhymes and songs still work. Using the same songs and rhymes over and over again is a good thing...with a bit of new material thrown in from time to time. It's always fun to remember some old rhymes and songs that you may not have thought about for years!
1992 Publication... #outdated... Seriously...I didn't realize early literacy programming had developed so much since then, but apparently it has, as this book shows that, especially with the selection of books that are given...the board book is a new concept in this book...that's kind of sad...
Sadly outdated today's librarian as a resource, although the opening chapters offer a good introduction to development theory and how to structure your storytime programs. I have never heard of many of these traditional Mother Goose rhymes or the spin-offs suggested for storytime. This is a good resource if you want to plan a Mother Goose themed storytime, but it lacks any breadth of more modern or engaging activities other than rhymes. The booklist is sorely lacking in the many modern storyteller's versions and parodies of these rhymes.
