The shining thing that I love about Riley's books is that while each tale may be similar, she gives me a snippet of previous characters and their history, which is perfect if you have been waiting for a novel to be released and some time has passed.
As per Riley's trope I got to see a sad tortured alpha. And boy, i figured he was a tough nut to crack, and I wasn't wrong.
Logan plays an integral part to the plotline , showing how family stands strong. And letty was hilarious.
Jac, I'm glad to say, has some inner strength and grit, which is definitely needed for this big stubborn gorgeous pain filled man. Although I am finding him typically, a tad mercurial. I could definitely feel a slap upside the head coming on.
The plot started out rather sedately. Filling me in with the history and pain of Logan's and Echo's family, the push, pull of the H and h, the stubbornness and boy, the steam. However, what did catch me by suprise was jac's sneaky byplay. It made me chuckle and boy it was fun yet emotionally challenging, to see things unravel. The stubbornness between H and h played out just long enough to be interesting but not so long as to get the eyeroll, and all the scheming, it was a dangerous games they were getting in to.
The fact that animals were involved just like in Chelsea's story, was cause for me to do a happy dance...i so enjoy it when horses are involved. But the best bit of dialogue, if one is invested, is chapter 19. I just about cried for the whole 20 minutes. Absolutely brilliant.
The suspense side of the novel rolled into the storyline at the right time and boy i wasn't disappointed, the angst ramped up considerably.
The whole action moment was written with a subtlety that worked perfectly.
It was so good to have all my favourite characters in my ears. The emotion was gutwrenching and just beautiful
A wonderful book. Thank you Riley yet again.
