I bought this audiobook over two years ago, but since I am practising in the Dharma Ocean path and was doing other preliminary practices I dropped it after a few weeks. Several weeks ago I felt a need for something more in my practice and started listening to the lectures and doing the practices again.

I have known the depth of Reggie's teachings, from audiobook programs, audio podcasts and his weekly video offerings for some time, and also in real life at Dathun at Blazing Mountain. But the sheer drop in to this audio book, especially after reaching the stage of pointing out has shocked me. I've seen things through these practices that I've heard about for years, know theoretically but this has guided me straight to the direct experience of those same concepts. I really wasn't expecting it, and was usually sitting in a difficult session thinking how it was just going to be another of those restless times, when Reggie's words popped me through to something deeper.

It has shown me the astonishing power of the practices as related by an amazing teacher. To get through at such depth to someone following the highest Tibetan yoga practice from an audiobook is an astonishing skill. I would previously have looked down at audiobooks as inferior, yet somehow this was just the right message at just the right time for me. Thank you Reggie, this truly is a wonderful gift to us all.

This is a course on Tibetan Buddhism, specifically tailored for the consumption (if that's the right word, and I don't think it is) for "The Modern World". I'm going to take that to mean "everyone except Tibetan Buddhists".

Lots of discussion, lectures with large "hands on" sections for the meditation practices. I did a faster run through first, without actually doing the work, to get a feel for the bigger picture - and I think that was a good plan. The second time through is for working with the vocal cues and guidance to perform the body-based shamatha, Vipashyana and other meditations.

I have it as an audio book, and that's probably a fair sight easier than the 33 CD's - once you've got your bookmarks fired in.

The master in this case is a man named Reginald Ray (I got a kick every time there was a new major section because they have a very incongruously Hollywood-sounding intro, "... [bla bla bla] with Reggie Ray". The alliteration is a bit unfortunate - something I need to spend some time within myself, apparently..

I believe one could get a very deep understanding with these tools as a foundation and it's something that I find I'm revisiting often. One of those things you could take as far as you wanted to, but I do recommend giving it at least one run through.

Without a doubt, an amazing program. This program presents Tibetan Buddhist teachings in a manner that allows them to be, in my opinion, easily digested by Westerners without being "dumbed down" so as to become New Age. One needn't be a Buddhist to benefit from the teachings and practices presented herein. As a Pagan and an animist, I find that these teachings are completely compatible with my path and, I would imagine, any path that edifies the sacredness of incarnation.

Reginald Ray does an amazing job at teaching meditation students in an easy to understand fashion these Tibetan Buddhist lineage teachings. His advice is practical and not rushed. It's like being on a retreat.

The scope of content and instruction is five stars but I'm not sure about the approach. This is a program I'll continue to investigate for a long time.

This in conjunction with the audio lectures, teachings and guided meditations is quite amazing material to share publically.

It was good. Much of it could be applied to meditating in general or to other religions.
