I read this for my book group - after reading James by Percival Everett & suggesting the book group read both books. For over 40+ years the group reads an “old book” and then a “new book” the next month.

Personally I plan to read most of Everett’s books. Besides being a distinguished professor of English at USC he’s a prolific writer! His book James is an African American’s response to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.

Honestly did not enjoy this book at all. I get that it's a classic and all but I did not like reading this at all. I don't think I'll ever pick it up again. Just a really hard and boring read.
