This was readable and it moved along well. None of the characters were especially deep. This is one of the first “group” novels Where a bunch of strangers end up in a hotel with different storylines. Some of them are intertwined and some on their own. Baum’s story is most interesting. Born in 1888 she left Germany right before Hitler’s rise and became an American. She loved in LA and her books became popular novels. She wanted to be a more serious literary writer but never achieved that.
