Jeff Probst is the multi-Emmy Award-winning host and executive producer of the popular series "Survivor."
After years of young fans asking, "When are you going to do a Survivor for kids?" Jeff took his wife's advice and created a children's adventure series based on Survivor -- where the kids are the ones STRANDED.
I liked how mysterious the book was from always making you wonder what's going to happen next to the cliffhanger at the end. I also like the plot of the book where some kids get lost and have to survive on a stranded island alone. The author uses realistic dialogue to help you feel connected to the book. The only thing I disliked was I wanted a little more action but other than that this is a really good book and will be checking out the second one.
This is very entertaining as a read aloud. My students loved that there were cliffhangers and that they couldn’t tell what would happen next. It is an easy read, but entertaining enough to hold their attention.
Other than 4 kids getting stranded after a shipwreck, there wasn't good plotting and the story ends as a cliffhanger since there are 3 in the series. Other than having Jeff Probst's name as a coauthor, it was ghostwritten.
3.5/5 stars. Interesting book. Had a little bit of adventure mixed in with suspense. I feel that the writing is a little bit simple. The storyline is like those classic stories where they are stranded on an island and they need to survive. In general, it's a solid book.
