An interesting premise for a book but it just didn't live up to my expectations. Not much of a mystery or an action / adventure type book. Full of scientific vocabulary and biology. It drifted along for 400+ pages without getting to a good action type conclusion.

Convoluted mess. Edited down to 150 pages and it would have been a nice novella, instead we got back stories on all major and minor characters in the book that really didn’t advance the story.

Overly long. I found the first third of the book tedious mostly because a lot was backstop. However after getting into the story I enjoyed it. My field was in geology and thus I had no problems with the paleontology terms. I was also knowledgeable about grants and publishing in scientific journals.
