I remember having an argument with my sister about the planets orbiting the sun on a plane because of this book. It still amazes me that they can have so many towns and cities on the back too! Take that, google maps!

Must-have reference in people’s personal libraries, specially to aid in reading geography, history or geopolitical books. The natural bodies of land and water that cant be represented in detail on a globe, is what makes this book essential to anyone trying to understand human movement and interactions around the world. And also — Index. I know there’s google maps and all but this book doesnt require batteries. Going back to good, old classic methods.

As a child I pored over this book virtually everyday....

It is probably one of the reasons that I can still draw the world free-hand and then label it with virtually every country, their major cities and all of the major rivers and mountains therein.

Quite sad really.

For many Indian kids who grew up in the 90s, reading this book (among other RD specials) was probably what helped most nerds with the process of divergence into better content/reading over time. There are innumerable quotes about how an Atlas is the best book to have, and i couldnt agree more!
