No.

Still not living up to the full potential of this awesome idea. :(

It could have been great. But the end product that I just read... No. Not good. Much to juvenile. Could have been dark and epic tragic.

Instead it's goofy and episodic in nature with absolutely no over arching plot.

:/

Not recommended. It's simply not worth the read anymore, even if my library does have it and I can read it for free. I actually skimmed the last few pages. That's how bad it was.

The art is nice enough, I'll give it that.

Cooro and Husky aren't like other boys. They're anima, children with animal features and qualities. After breaking free of their servitude at a cruel freakshow circus, they go on a journey in search of others like themselves. Cooro is a crow and Husky is a fish. As they travel the world doing good deeds, they recruit a bear boy, a cat woman and a bat girl. Together they get into all kinds of wacky antics while fighting against the oppression their kind faces on a daily basis.

The low rating isn't because this series is bad, it's just extremely cliche and childish in my opinion. I think it would be good for young kids who have no experience reading manga. It's extremely light, simple, easy to follow and doesn't contain anything overly violent, dark or sexual in nature. For someone like me who generally reads books and manga with excessive gore, dark themes and adult content it definitely didn't appeal to me that much, even though I was in the mood to read something lighter than I'm accustomed to.

Not a bad manga, just not for me. Even so, it's undeniably cute and wholesome. I think it would appeal to kids and young girls, especially if they have minimal experience reading manga.

I love the new winter clothes! Especially Senri's scarf; I want one!

Our group gains a mysterious new stalker who's very interested in +Anima. Then we come across a very sad tale of a lost child. Top that off with the story of the little mermaid. Wander off to have an adventure with a small child and a stuffed bear. And end with a dramatic standoff where Senri journeys to meet his Kim-un-kur tribesmen. These guys look awesome.

This series has 10 volumes.

We get a small glimpse into Husky’s past in this book. There is also a bittersweet episode about the friends staying with a young couple. The only thing I didn’t like about this volume was the little girl in the Teddy Bear episode. She’s engaged and that made me very uncomfortable (you’ll see why in the way she’s depicted). Other than that, it was a good installment for the series.

The short chapter about a young girl in a political arranged marriage to a guy who's at least a late teenager if not an adult was very uncomfortable in what is otherwise a childishly simplistic story.

I love these characters!! The storyline is so interesting and you never know what will come up next! To be continued endings are rough though!! It's so hard to wait for the next volume!

I love these books! They are so adorable and lovable. They are well-thought out and interesting and wonderful. Her characters all seem so real. They all have problems and really specific and personal histories that go back pretty far. Her characters aren't perfect, and she is able to make them come to life and feel like real human beings.
I love the idea behind this manga. I love the idea of being able to transform into an animal and have cool powers and be special. (I wish I could do it. That would be so cool!)
My best friends gave these to me to read. They were the first manga I ever read in my entire life and I didn't get it at first. They had the books and I tried reading it, but I couldn't figure out how to read it backwards, and so the first book they read it out loud to me <3 Aren't they sweet? Anyways, I decided that I wanted to continue reading them online, and I was just planning to just look at +Anima a little bit and I ended up reading like the first 7 books in two days (It would've been sooner except I had school and sleep and whatnot, stupid distractions!)
Senri is my favorite!! He is so adorable! I definitely recommend these books to those who love mangas, and to those who love animals, and to those who love interesting stories. This is a very good series with wonderful writing and amazing art!

+Anima is starting to dig in a bit on long running plot points. It's possible to understand things starting here but it's best to go back to the beginning.

After having a single arc take up most of the last volume, we're back to the more typical shorter tales this time. The only two-part story is The Boy Who Lover a Mermaid in the middle of the volume, which revolves around Husky getting mistaken for a girl yet again. Contact, House of Apples and Teddy Bear all focus on other members of the group and introduce supporting characters with various backstories and reaction to +Anima that seem like they'll appear again. All four stories keep up the great characterizations that have been established and are decent enough, but I personally found them a touch less interesting than what I'm used to for this series.

On the other hand the final chapter, Moss Mountain, turns up the intrigue heading into volume 6 as an old "friend" joins our group as they wander into Kimunkle territory. There's a couple of hints here about the backstory that's been hanging over the series and several related plot threads coming together. Senri obviously looks to be heavily featured as we go forward.

Overall this volume was fine. Nothing terribly remarkable until the strong finish but nothing bad either and no real loss of momentum.

This volume is stilly pretty episodic although we are definitely starting to develop a deeper story and it ends very much on a cliff hanger, so have book 6 on hand.

The first episode has Cooro and co end up at the house of apples. A woman still makes apple pies even though her son has disappeared. At the end of this we learn he was abducted by a black winged angel from the circus. But if it is indeed husky then why does he have no memory or connection to the place??? Hmmmmmmmm

Next is a two part story - the boy who loved a mermaid in which Husky rescues a boy called Kevin from drowning. Kevin, mistaking Husky for a girl falls in love with him.

Next we have teddybear in which Senri helps a little girl running away with a stolen teddybear.

And lastly we have moss mountain - Senri seems drawn to moss mountain where a clan of Kim-un-kur live. Soldiers from the next village want to use him to help make an alliance.

This series big selling point is the gorgeous BESM artwork. I also like the characters, although it is very slow to develop major plot arcs - we're on volume 5 and nothing major has come to light yet. Enchanting and fun, with beautiful art, this series is worth checking out, though so far lacks much depth.

From my not-so-vast manga experience, I can safely conclude that in the first few volumes, the plot seems to kind of wander. We get introduced to the characters, some concepts, the world, and then after a few volumes, things start to connect and an actual plot forms.

I just don't see that happening with this series. We have some cardboard characters with animal powers, and they have one quirk each. They travel around the world where a bunch of side characters interact with them. Stuff happens, one of the characters is thought to be a girl, one of the characters puts a flower in a book, one of the characters fantasizes about marrying a rich man and one of the previously mentioned characters gets all angry about it, etcetera. The art is really cool, in my opinion, but the story? Not as cool.

Winter is coming fast and the gang must find a place to call shelter before the conditions get too bad. But how are +anima ever supposed to find a place to call home when they are outcasted and hated by so many? And the bear inside of Senri seems to be awakening... will we now be able to see what lies underneath his black eyepatch and calm exterior?

Well, well, well, Senri is finally getting a larger role in the story! Around the time I stopped reading +Anima a couple years ago, I had a feeling by about the next volume (this one) or next few chapters that Senri's secret would be hinted at and that in the end of the whole series, it would ultimately show that he was the main character. Hmm. I have a feeling now that that isn't quite right... but fairly close! Maybe?

While, Husky's continuing struggles to prove that he is male are certainly amusing and Cooro's appetite is never ending, neither are really enough to carry a whole volume. We still know virtually nothing about Cooro and Husky because most of their past before meeting each other has barely been mentioned. What we know about Nana basically tells us why she is a +Anima, but not why she won't seek out her mother. And Senri is still mostly just the quiet occasionally violent guy. The only overarching theme to connect the books is that +Anima aren't seen as human and are treated poorly as a result. I think I understood that in the first 4 volumes though...

Holy Smokes! What exactly are you hiding Senri? There is a bear in front of you, and you just stand there staring at it. I can definately see an overall plot coming into play. It is finally clear why they +anima group and the military keep running into one another. However, why is this girl following the +anima group? She is spying on them like she is studying them, but I cannot see a reason why exactly. She looks a lot like Cooro, so maybe they are related? So many questions have begun to pop up.

In this volume comes to look at the gang, Cooro, Huskey, Senri, and Nana preparing for the winter before Senri has a set determination to return to the mountains where he came from.

As with all volumes in this series I love the book. I liked the two part-er of a look-see as Huskey being a mermaid all over again and attracting the eye of a downing man. It is a really sweet story. As well as the chapter of the gang in an apple orchard.

Sweet and touching and now in the 6th volume I see that we have Senri's backstory come to play.

This book swept me away to this other wonderful world. The setting was brilliantly set. I could totally see it in my mind. But the characters were definitely my favorite part. They are all so colorful, interesting, exciting, and hilarious. The main character is just perfect. The plot moved fast enough that I couldn't stop reading lest I miss something, but the author still took the time to flesh out the details. The details are what really make or break a story.

The plot thickens and we are being given more hints in to the characters pasts. EXCITING! It still holds a sweet feeling in every chapter. But our understanding of each of them grows a little with each no story. I love it.

Not my favorite of the series. I liked Husky's gender identity conflict (one authors usually shy from), but once again I found the chapter with Senri, Arthur, and the little girl really cringey.
