I remember a mini series about "Rose Red" so this book intrigued me. Created as a companion to the release of a movie about that book by Stephen King, this is a combination style of narration for fiction. The first is that this is a scholarly produced work and will contain context from the scholar herself; to fulfill that promise we need a lot more commentary entries. The second style of narration is epistolary, a series of diary pages presented along with dates and occasionally times. It is clear that the authors have done excellent historical background research because of the details but also that they are very familiar with the King work it is based upon. Think of this as a prequel or a marketing move.
