From her Ravelry Profile: I have been knitting and crocheting forever. I am a mother and grandmother, and a great grandmother. I design, teach, and write books. My first book was published in 1978, and I just completed my 19th book In addition to the books, I have 2 independently produced video’s/dvd’s, and 3 self published entrelac crochet patterns. My flicker name is MHDesigner. I love it all!
I am a member of the CGOA, The Happily Hooked on Crochet chapter in CT, and a member of The Big Apple Knitters in New York City.
I love the layout of this book, the covered spiral binding, and the comfortable sized print with adequate spacing between lines and words.
Crocheting a scarf from this book will be a piece of cake, even with both hands full. The patterns are modern, stylish, and use a variety of yarns in different colors and textures.
Each of the 20 patterns begins with a photo of a model wearing the finished scarf. On the next page is a brief introduction, along with a sidebar showing suggested yarn, hook size, stitches used, gauge, notions, and finished size.
There are beautiful close-up pictures that show the stitch details, and texture/color of the yarn.
In the back, there is a section that shows how to do basic crochet stitches along with the stitches used in the book.
This is a perfect guide for beginners and for those of various experience levels looking for unique scarves.
I really like the Totally Twisted Scarf, which is crocheted in two narrow strips in different colors. The strips are then twisted over and under each other and sewn together. The Handsome Basket-Weave Scarf looks sturdy and warm. It’s the only scarf in this book that my husband would wear. The Fun Fur Stripes Scarf is made with a medium-weight acrylic wool blend yarn and a novelty fur yarn made of polyester. Just looking at the picture makes me itch, as I don’t much care for furry things around my neck. Still, it looks like fun, and I think it would look great with my new jean jacket. The Clever Blocks Scarf is made in interlocking blocks using two different color natural yarns, along with a metallic yarn. It’s the type of scarf that goes with everything.
It's cheap enough on Amazon, so I'm going to order a copy.
Well written instructions, lots of good ideas, several patterns that I have done, and would like to do. So I decided to buy a copy for myself. (I had checked this one out from the library)
