Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
While I realize that the author's descriptions of all the places he visits is extremely romanticized, I feel like that in this context that's a positive. So few people give the lesser known places even a glance, so it's really nice to see someone go on and on about them in absolutely beautiful prose.
Interesting look at lesser known areas in Europe, travelled by an American in the 1910s. I read it because it's one of the few books that even mentions Neutral Moresnet. He also visited Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and a couple of cities in South-Tyrol which were still under Austrian rule, but are described as basically Italian already.
