Peer Pressure

Rate this book
Seventeen-year-old Robert Orlando sits in a holding pin filled with drug addicts and petty thieves at the 79th Precinct in Brooklyn waiting to be transferred to the Criminal Court Building. Robert is scheduled to graduate after the spring break, but instead of graduating, he finds himself locked up and wondering what's happened to him. As a police officer leads him out of his cell to be fingerprinted and photographed, he realizes what's happening to him: he's going to prison! "I only took one drink to celebrate my graduation and I don't think I hurt anyone. Once I see the judge he will understand because my grades are excellent." But his confidence starts to fade when the judge says, "You are charged with murder. Bail is denied! You're remanded to the Riker's Island Correctional Facility!" "My God, your honor, I'm innocent!" but he collapses on the floor as darkness overtakes him.
