The Bootlegger is a story that is made up of three parts. Part One, titled, Drive-Thru Love, is an experience in the bootlegger's life. Jo drives through a town in Barefoot County as part of his smuggling route. One day, while dodging the cops, he stops at a fast food place. He falls in love with the fast food girl. The girl is ugly but has a sexy voice. The voice reminds Jo of a hot actress who is the essence of beauty. He tries to change his fast food girlfriend into being more like her. Needless to say, fireworks ensue. Part Two, titled, The Bootlegger, Joseph takes the reader back to the beginning. Jo's driving skills attract the mob. They make him a sweet offer he can't turn down. Jo's life is great at first but then he gets bored. Jo wants something more than just being an errand boy. He soon discovers that getting out of the mob is easier said than done. In the end, with some help from his friends, an uncanny set of circumstances and help from above, Jo is delivered. In Part Three, titled, The Steak Out, the hunted becomes the hunter. Jo gets recruited by the cops in order to catch a Santa robber. As the caper unfolds, Jo becomes one of the good guys.
