Kaliah and Kaliese, sisters, and cousin Siobhan were great friends. They were princesses who lived in adjoining castles and always played together. When a dangerous virus struck the Earth one day, the king ordered that everything in the kingdom be shut down to protect its citizens. It confined the two sisters and cousin to their respective residences. They wanted to see each other, but they couldn't anymore. We picked this book for its title. The tale discusses how Covid hurt relationships, particularly with young children who struggled to cope with isolation because of the lockdown. The story is easy-to-read for young children, with some interesting illustrations.
Unbreakable Ties by Minnie Ransom is a straightforward narrative about the Covid era and how relationships were sustained. Eva Demel's contrasting illustrations give an exciting touch. Read the full review at Nothing But Picture Books
Although this book focused on isolation due to covid, it would be helpful in other situations. It shows how important communication is, even if it isn't face to face. Some other examples of isolation, where communications are important, would be when kids are sick at home, hospitalized, relocating, or bullied. This book would help in any of these instances.
This is a story about true friendship and being together despite the circumstances. The princess cousins couldn’t be together because of the virus a time no one will forget. Despite the challenges the virus brought the cousins found a way to still stay connected. Great story about friendship
A story about cousins who had a hard time being apart during the pandemic, but eventually found ways to strengthen their bond. ❤️The quaint illustrations look hand-drawn/ painted using a mix of pencil crayons and watercolors.
A sweet story about friendship bonding and staying connected in every circumstances. Said in fairytale style. Loved it. Lovely illustrations. Relatable story where kids can connect...
This is an interesting story that incorporates some of what happened during the covid-19 shutdown. The pictures are very pretty. It's a very enjoyable read.
