Marley Harris is thrust into international intrigue as a result of trying to discover the secrets of her dead husband's business. She struggles for years but finds herself blocked at every turn, constantly thwarted and discouraged. Her business associates choose to protect her by withholding the keys to the mystery but she gets mired in a very dangerous high-stakes game, forcing her to withdraw altogether. Two friends emerge as the shield she never knew she needed and she is rescued from a very nasty position at a point which may have saved her life. Her husband's business goes on without her and her sudden freedom leads to happiness she hadn't felt since he died.
