Although I think the topic of this book is very important, with children often being very enthused and inspired to help save the planet, I also think non-fiction books like this one seem outdated very quickly. I think there are picture books which cover these topics better in a more engaging way as well as better more child friendly non-fiction books which are interesting and engaging. The book covers some key points, however, I think children would be quite bored reading or listening to the story as it’s just very short simple points. There are some nice ideas so having the book in the classroom alongside a range of others on the same topic would be good.
This book is a great book to demostrate to children ways of reusing things. We can not assume that children have heard of clothing items being scrapped up to make conforters or Caprisun pouches put together to make purses. Often children are not aware of things like this and this book would help the children become aware and inspire them to use things in the classroom that they would have normally thrown away for other purposes.
