I did not expect to like this book this much 😭- I was kind of put off by the rating/reviews and avoided reading this one, but I finally decided to read something off my tbr for once, and I'm so happy that I did.
The story was really simple in the sense that it only revolved around the pregnancy, and not much else. Overall, it read like an extended novella, and I just really enjoyed it 😋.

It had potential but everything revolves around breeding. There was barely any plot and whatever was there, it was about getting the girl pregnant. She was into it too. Was it just lust? Insta-love? No clue, it was sex after sex scene with the goal of getting her pregnant.

I didn’t like this one as much as the other book by this author. I didn’t care for the fact that the hero had knocked up another woman and his whole Motive of vengeance was based off the fact she was killed shortly after he finds out she’s pregnant. He didn’t love her, so this book had that going for it, but I’m not a fan of heroes having babies with OW. I want that experience to belong only to the heroine.
But otherwise it’s a good book; the hero starts off ruthless and vicious, keeping the heroine chained up and he slowly melts for her. I absolutely love a cruel ruthless hero who starts out hating the heroine and ends up all twisted and turned upside down for her.
I loved the heroine; her resilience, her kindness, her courage, her innocence.

At first i was interested but then it went all flat, i didn't enjoy how collaborative she was, how willing.. i needed more build up, more chemistry lol. This was really plain and boring at some point, it didn't pick my interest :(. I lost interest in this couple and i don't care how this will turn out, their connection wasn't genuine

I didn’t think this one was anywhere near the quality of Bad Duke, in fact I probably wouldn’t have read Bad Duke had I read this one first. There’s overuse of commas and massive body betrayal that takes any angst away. There’s breeding but I didn’t find it interesting. But it seems like there’s improvement so I would give her next book a try, just pass on this one.

2.75 stars rounded up to 3 for this mafia (kinda) breeding age gap romance. There’s a plot in here somewhere. But tbh it’s a little hard to find underneath all the smutty breeding scenes. Which, yes we love our spice to be spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, but at a certain point chapter after chapter without a break becomes redundant.

2.5 stars… this book is full of grammatical errors. So many stray commas that make zero sense. So you kinda have to accept that. The story itself is not as shallow as I anticipated. It actually flowed quite nicely. It was relatively short which I appreciated, although honestly another 30ish pages could have been cut. All that being said, I find mindless trash to actually be difficult to get right and this one did it pretty well! I was entertained throughout and honestly for what it was, I had a pretty good time.

Let Vengeance Be Mine is a great debut from the pen of Lilah Raine and I look forward to reading more from this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed Matteo and Aria’s story. I was hooked from the first page and read it in one go, I couldn’t put it down.
The plot was fast-paced and filled with seriously hot, steamy scenes, tension to make your heart race and a twist to make your jaw drop. (I didn’t see it coming!)
If you're after a quick, spicy read with a plot that will keep you hooked from beginning to end, and leave you feeling hot under the collar, then this is the book for you.
I have found a new author to stalk!

Matteo suffered a traumatic tragedy, and of course, he wants justice, even in the form of vengeance. Aria is the daughter of his enemy, the one he holds responsible for what he lost. So he decides to use Aria. Now the idea he had I didn't agree with, but to an extent, Aria wasn't as opposed as she seemed. Aria and Matteo's relationship starts off very unconventional, but pretty quickly on develops into a very spicy relationship because man the chemistry is good and the intimate scenes are very hot, but once they both admit their feelings for each other, it becomes something more. Something that Matteo will do whatever to protect and keep. I love a hot spicy book with a awesome storyline and a HEA, and this book delivered that. I would have liked a additional or extended epilogue maybe 5 or 10 years later, just because i want more and am greedy to read more from these characters and see how their life pans out. Very good read. My first time reading something by this author, I would read more of their work. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

So I read bad duke first. Absolutely loved it!
Read this one which was like a a copy and paste version of bad duke but not as good. Then i realized she wrote this book first, which actually made me happy meaning her writing including building tension, world building and character development only got better
. So ultimately Bad Duke was a new improved version of this story. I’ve only read two by her and I’m not super thrilled with how similar the stories are
. Of course they have different characters and different stories but the formula is the same.
One powerful man forces a weaker female into an arrangement that focuses around getting her pregnant .
Not to spoil the rest but it’s the exact same scenarios happening just to different people. Like even the mysterious villain is the same person (not like same character but same character position meaning like it’s either the dad/boss/friend/bodyguard etc I added a bunch so you can’t consider this a spoiler)
Like same exact scenario . I’ll try one other book but if it’s the same format I’ll ultimately have to give this author up. Nobody wants to read the same story over and over in different font.

Honestly, given how the story started, it was hard to like our male lead. I mean, at what point do you actually draw the line? He was downright awful before he was sweet.
And after... it was just disgustingly sweet.
Plus, with the fact that this book has my favourite kink, I mean, how can I not enjoy this? But, kinky aside, I do wish for more plot. The bedroom stuff is fantastic, but outside, not much was happening. So, that brings the rating down for me. But as a pure smut, if you're like me, this was really nice.

OMG! Wow, this was an absolute astonishing book to read, this story was definitely a page turner it was mesmerising and the characters were absolutely captivating. This story was about Matteo and Aria, Matteo is born into the Mafia he has kidnapped a female for revenge, she is kept into the basement in chains. Aria went to her father's Island with friends to party before her life changes, her father has arranged a marriage for her to a man twice her age. There was so much going on with twist and turns, action, suspense, danger, violence, killings, enemies, trauma, anger, kidnapping, revenge, betrayal, secrets, lies, hate, lust, pleasure, passion, rough, intense, sizzling, pleasures, pregnancy, and maybe even love.

Nope. This girl has no backbone at all. She's kidnapped chained to a wall an when the mmc comes in an feels her up she gets wet and wants more. Also he uses her for sex takes her to a room does the deed an then chains her back up in the basement and she's getting feelings. Jesus I'm done

Aria & Matteo's story gets straight to the point of the plot which helps you get right to the nitty gritty of why she’s been taken. You understand Matteo's reasons for this and given the theme for this type of story it makes sense why, it is a dark read after all…plus mafia underworlds play by its own set of rules.
Aria knows this might be her only chance to escape what her father had planned for her and slowly you do see this connection forming between her & Matteo. This is a breeding trope and once Aria is pregnant the relationship shifts even more.
It's tense at times reading, you start to sense a threat is going to blow and who may fall victim. Fast paced between the characters and slow at the same time with their love coming through. Some areas could have been developed a little more but overall a good read.

I was looking for a book that wasn't too long that would keep my attention but not totally absorb me and all my emotions, so I figured a mafia romance was probably the way to go. Unfortunately, that's a pretty broad brush but then I saw this was by Lilah Raine and I was a huge fan of her Bad Duke book and this was on KU so why not?
First the sex was hot if you can forget that the young girl has been kidnapped, stripped, chained to a wall in a basement and is a virgin and is suddenly desperate to get on her back for this dark, cruel stranger. Because obviously. Luckily, he also falls madly in love with the woman he has kidnapped to use and abuse and despite waiting a year for his vengeance has actually no plan beyond breeding her.
Anyway, honestly, I barely registered all of that once we got into the book because it was reasonably short and super-fast paced and basically complete breeding smut and I was there for it.
I kept going to put it down and go to sleep but then I had to read one more chapter to see this one thing through and then I was only 30% from the end and then I may as well just wait and see what was going to happen next and oh look that's the end and it's 1am. So no it wasn't a literary masterpiece but it was exactly what I picked it up wanting.

Anyway, honestly, I barely registered all of that once we got into the book because it was reasonably short and super-fast paced and basically complete breeding smut and I was there for it.
I kept going to put it down and go to sleep but then I had to read one more chapter to see this one thing through and then I was only 30% from the end and then I may as well just wait and see what was going to happen next and oh look that's the end and it's 1am. So no it wasn't a literary masterpiece but it was exactly what I picked it up wanting.
