A sweet story including romance, enemies to lovers, and family dynamics. I did feel the enemies to lovers aspect was a little contrived, considering how quickly they grew to care for each other. And I was extremely irritated with the final misunderstanding, in which the hero said horrible things to the heroine that didn't even make sense considering their relationship prior to, and for which I feel she too quickly forgave him...
Ahhh, Truelove. Yes, that's all one word, as we are back in Truelove, NC for another of author Lisa Carter's "Double Name Club" matchmaker books. City girl Kelsey Summerfield has tried to earn her always-working father's love her whole life. Now, finally, a seat at her father's "company table" is almost hers for the taking, if she can prove herself by planning her grandfather's wedding. Country boy and rancher Clay McKendry is the grandson of the bride. On paper, he couldn't be more opposite from Kelsey. Their instant dislike of one another just seems to prove it. But Grandma Dot wants him to help Kelsey plan the wedding. At least this way he can try to keep all her big city ideas reined in. Oh, but you know that old saying, "opposites attract", right? Once these two put aside their differences and really work together, sparks fly. But when a series of disastrous events happen, will it prevent not only the wedding, but a possible future for Kelsey and Clay? I read this in one day, and oh, the epilogue! Settle in for A Country Christmas!
I am a big fan of books by Lisa Carter. I especially love this series because it is set in the North Carolina mountains in a town with the cutest name and tagline. It takes place in a town called Truelove. The two main characters are Kelsey Summerfield and Clay McKendry. They are brought together by their grandparents to help plan their wedding. I really enjoyed not only the banter between the main characters but I thought that their grandparents were just the sweetest. They make me really miss my grandparents. This novel definitely requires a box of tissues. It will take you through all of the emotions. I recommend it to anyone!
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.
What a wonderful and entertaining story of how two people find true love in Truelove! And it doesn't hurt that the town motto is "Truelove, North Carolina: Where True Love Awaits."
Following Kelsey Summerfield and Clay McKendry as they navigated their relationship was completely entertaining. I loved their banter, how they came to know each other better, and how their relationship shifted in a new direction. However, when someone threw a wrench into the mix, I couldn't imagine how it would turn out. But the end result was even better than I anticipated.
I recommend that you add A Country Christmas to your to-be-read pile as a definite must-read. This beautiful story is one you won't want to miss.
This is a heartwarming story of love, and forgiveness. Once again we return to Truelove and the matchmaking “Double name Club.” Kelsey Summerfield and Clay McKendry have nothing in common except for the fact that their grandparents are marrying each other. One has been burned by love and one has felt like they were too much, yet not enough, to be loved.
This was my first time reading a book by Lisa Carter and it won't be my last. She has woven a beautiful story focusing on a father's role in the family through loss, abandonment, and trying to find their way through the day-to-day. I highly recommend this book.
This was a wonderful love story about how 2 grandparents became engaged and a wonderful granddaughter to plan the wedding, alot happened in between before they got married. A book you can't put down.
Kelsey’s grandfather is getting married to Clay’s grandmother. And a couple have asked Kelsey and Clay to plan their wedding. Now the wealthy city girl has to work with the down-to-earth country boy and find a way to mesh their preferences and their families, while ignoring their attraction, they feel for each other.
I have enjoyed several of author Lisa Carter’s books and this one was another winner! This opposites attract story was multi-faceted with several themes unfolding including self-worth, forgiveness and reconciliation. And it’s always fun to visit the charming town of Truelove again. Lovely story!
