Now we're talking

I wasn't a fan of the previous issues (with the exception of 1 & 3 which teased a connection to Prometheus and inspired works of Giger) but this one is where it starts to pick up. I won't spoil the ending but I will say that I suspect that these comics have a wink to Lily.Cat at the end of this issue. For those of you who are into anime films and have seen that movie (which is heavily inspired by ALIEN) you'll know what I mean. It all seems to come full circle with the additional Easter eggs of Prometheus, the Engineers and Lovecraftian horror (which made the first film one of the greatest sci-fi and horror films of all time).
There are questions that as with Prometheus, are still left unanswered. I hope that these are partially answered in the following issues and opens a new Pandora box that as with Lovecraft's tales, is a doorway into madness.

A solid end with a cool big fight but felt a bit to predictable and ending felt like more set up.

Chapter One of Marvel’s first foray into the Aliens franchise comes to a close in satisfying fashion. To a certain extent this is by the numbers Alien fayre, with all of the required elements ticked off one by one. But, for me, that was the correct approach for Marvel straight out of the gate. They needed to reassure fans that they understand the franchise, know what makes an Alien story an Alien story and that everyone’s favourite xenomorphs are safe in their hands. And by those metrics, this first arc has delivered perfectly.

I know Larocca’s heavily photo referenced art isn’t to everyone’s taste, but for me it fits this series perfectly. I need to recognise that a Bishop unit is a Bishop unit because it looks like Lance Henriksen and not just because the script tells me it is. This kind of hyper-real art adds to the atmosphere and the terror of an Aliens story. That doesn’t mean that other approaches aren’t equally valid, but this works for me here, in the story, and that’s what matters.

Of course no Alien story is complete without a twist in the tale and this comic doesn’t fail to deliver on that, potentially setting up Aliens on Earth, and, indeed, the tease of next month’s cover suggests that’s exactly what we’ll be getting in chapter two. And that, my friends, is very exciting indeed!

Grandes elementos y personalidad en esta historia, en particular la importancia de Bishop y la IA. Creo que se lee mejor en su totalidad.
Genial.

I get the feeling we're going to finally see why Earth was a wasteland at the end Alien: Resurrection (Director's Cut). The reveal of Iris being a synthetic was, to me, unexpected, but makes sense, seeing as we didn't expect Call to be one either, and Iris is probably the first step from Ash and Bishop to Call. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if David has a hand in it somehow.

I think this series has brought a breath of much needed fresh air into this franchise. As stated before, the art is fantastic & this story arc was written well. Looking forward to issue 7 and a new adventure. 4/5

Wow! What an ending to this new Alien story. Really loved it and interested to see what they do next with the Alien comics. There's more coming and I cannot wait!
