Patricia Collins’ story about discovering her premature daughter, Mary has cerebral palsy. It’s a sad story but honest. Patricia has two other children and she and her husband both work. She struggles to accept her brain damaged daughter and decides to leave her in a home in Ireland for 2 years while the rest of the family go to live in America. It reads like she still didn’t want her back but a member of staff brings her to America to be with her family at just two days notice.
But as time goes by she realises she does love and accept Mary and the story has a happy ending.
The book was published in 1981 and some of the language used is now very outdated.
