loves her peaceful life. But when the king summons her and her brother, Alfonso, to live with him, Isabel knows they have no choice but to go. She is worried because the king's way of life is very different -- what if she and her brother don't fit in? Then the king's men accuse Alfonso of treason, and Isabel knows she must step up and do what's right -- for her brother and for Spain.

These Ready-to-Read non-fiction picture books are some of my favorite to recommend for elementary libraries and classrooms. The stories are always interesting and introduce young readers to real people from history that they will be covering more in-depth in later grades. This one is on a young Isabel I of Spain and nicely illustrates how quickly children had to grow up in this very different time.
An excellent reader with historic information on Isabel I of Spain. A captivating journey of Isabel and her little brother. Tales of soldiers, arranged marriages, King's, castles, values that determine right and wrong ways of living, Spanish words throughout to learn basic family words. A timeline of events in Isabel's life outlined at the end.
This was an interesting book because it taught you that really far back in time girls married at a very young age while boys married at a very old age. I am happy that I am not in that age and that can decide when I marry and who I marry.
its about Isabel and her brother Alfonso have to go to the king's palace while they are there Alfonso talks to noblemen that are bad and Alfonso gets in trouble but Isabel defends him.
