A new author for me and a pretty good read. This story follows Ashley and Davin who have a hate-to-love romance. Trust is a hurdle for them both to overcome. They both come into the relationship with baggage and past traumas. I would have liked more background on both characters but enjoyed the book tThe cover grabbed me from the start. Fast paced, good length - I recommend.

This was a fast paced & quick read.
Romance, steam, a single mom in danger and need of help, a grumpy billionaire, who opens up to find happiness again.
A psycho ex and a former ex friend all tryin got kill you on a private island while in the middle of a game to win a bunch of money.
Little bit of suspense, romance, and an emotional roller coaster.
Who doesn’t love all of it?.

This is an enjoyable read and please keep in mind my review is based on an advanced copy before final edits. I stumbled across some editing issues that made the story confusing for a second around the halfway point. Two chapters were out of order so when reading a chapter that was meant to be the next chapter, the female MC was thinking about something that happened and I was confused as to how I missed such a big and important detail, but then I started reading the next chapter, which continued off two chapters beforehand, and the characters were having a conversation and then these events and details were revealed and then it was confirmed to me these two chapters were out of place. There was also some repetition in sentences and character dialogue close together that can be confusing to the eye and trains it back to the wrong line, so it me it was a little jarring but some editing can iron it out.

As for the plot it was quite an enjoyable story with a lot of potential. I just feel that the more interesting aspects like the island games could have been fleshed out and explored more. Also I wouldn’t say they were enemies to lovers, they had a weak dislike to one another. A bit huffy.

Faking It With My Protector started out slow for me. I was concerned about whether I was going to like this book. However, Lacy Kendrick came through with an amazing story that I thoroughly loved! A book that started out slowly for me quickly became a book I did not want to put down. I liked all of the main characters and found them to be relatable. Making it possible for me to feel all of the emotions they experienced. This had me reading the book in less than a day.

The lineup of the main characters:
Ashley the heroine, Davin the hero, Miles her son, Liliane her best friend and Harold her boss and Davin's employee/friend. All of these characters played pretty important parts in their lives adding more depth to the story.

Ashley will do anything for her son even if it means she will be stuck with Davin pretending to be his wife. Ashley and Davin both have personal baggage they bring with them which causes issues they need to work through. This baggage leads the reader on an exciting ride through their journey to finding each other.

Action, suspense, Davin you are a bit of a jerk, heart ache, passion, stubbornness and generalistic insanity of the rich. This is a book that keeps you turning the pages just to see if Ashley is going to smack him with a bag of cheez it's.
Ashely is a character that a reader quickly falls in love with and sympathizes with. She is having her heart ripped out of her chest right in the first chapter.
Davin is quite a bit harder to warm up to. He is quite the conceited jerk for quite a bit of the time. Thank God for Miles and Harold. That is where the reader gets to see the human aspects of him start coming out.
A three week billionaire boredom relief competition is going to be what helps get the money for her son's surgery. The surprises that come into play during the competition are what has everything in chaos. The past comes to find both of our characters. Unlikely friends come into play.
An entertaining read that keeps the reader on their toes.

I'm not exactly sure how to put into words how I feel about this book. Sometimes it was good and sometimes I didn't have any idea what was going on. Ashley is a single mom who would do anything for her son to get life saving surgery on his heart. Davin is billionaire who needs to find a fake wife so he can enter a contest on a private island. He offers Ashley 1 million dollars to take the role, thousand before and the rest if they make it to number 6. Although the seem to have great sexual chemistry I never really felt a love between them. Plus Ashley is an excellent mother so I find it really hard to believe she wouldn't be there when her only son is getting heart surgery. I love the relationship that Miles has with Liliane they were so loving and teasy with one another.

Faking it with the grumpy protector.
This was fake marriage, Enemies to Lovers.
Ash needed money for her sons heart transplant and Davine wanted to feel alive again.
Davine has had a horrible childhood and not a good life. He has the money but life doesn't excite him. So he wants to enter this Hungary game type of game, less violent but it's for Billionaire's that are married.
So they both agree to this but 3 weeks together blurs the line.
Things seem to go so well until their past comes up and threatening their lives.
It was very action packed and there was violence too.
I actually didn't know how the book was going to end!!!
I did love her friend Lillian, she was funny.
This book was sweet, funny, violent and Steamy all at once.

I liked it. This was an interesting story. Davin is a billionaire and veteran a bit bored with life and looking for some adventure. Ashley is a single mom desperately looking for a way looking for a way to pay for her son's surgery. Her boss offers her a proposition a fake marriage with the company's owner and enter survivor like games and she will get more than she needs to save her son. An entertaining story you get the action from the story, both characters have crazy, psychotic men from their past, dealing with the competition and the other billionaires and a blooming attraction the more time they spend.

This was definitely a different take on the fake relationship with a billionaire trope. Jungle games.. Basically, Survivor on a tropical island.

Bored, rich Davin decides to hire his temporary secretary, Ashley, to be his fake wife in these jungle games. She needs the money to get her son heart surgery. Lots of angst. Characters were a bit difficult to get a feel for. Why is Davin such a butt? If Ashley is supposed to be strong for her son, why does she seem so whiny?

Storyline was good, though it kinda lost a bit with such waffly characters.

A wonderful story about a single mother who needs help for her son's surgery. The characters Davin and Ashley have great appeal and the chemistry is clearly palpable with them. It is a smooth story and the storyline and characters flow into each other into a fantastic story. There's some danger, drama, and plenty of steamy moments in their story. This is definitely a must read, Lacey Kendrick is a great author and I love her stories.

Ashley is a single mom who has a son that needs an operation, and when grumpy, recluse billionaire, Devin, proposes that she play the part as his fake wife, to participate in island games for wealthy people, in exchange for the much-needed money, she agrees. This is a well written story which is fast paced, and is an emotional roller coaster, with suspense, romance, intrigue, and leads to a steamy page turner.

Ashley has an eight year old son who needs a heart transplant, but she doesn’t have the money for him to have it done. Devin is a billionaire who wants to take part in survival games on a private island, but it’s for married couples - so if Ashley and Devin pretend to be married both of them will be in a position to help the other. Despite a rocky start, things start to heat up - will they still part after the three weeks, or continue their relationship? This is another enjoyable, well written story, and although the third book in the series they are all standalone, and worth reading.

I almost quit this book after 20 or so pages. But I skipped to the reviews and so many people said it was crazy good, after a slow start. So I kept reading.
Here’s what I can say about it; thankfully, it’s a quick read.
What the ever loving did I just read?
So stupid. So disjointed. So dysfunctional.
Goodness.
And Ashley is another in a multitude of heroines who seem to cry and snot through the entire book. But, never have they looked so beautiful. Pulease.

I loved Ashley and Davin's story. Ashley was running from her abusive boyfriend and the father of her son miles and she needed money for her son's operation. Davin wanted to hire someone to pretend to be his wife for 3 weeks to compete in a competition that he and some other billionaires started. And throughout all the twists and turns that they took along the way they ended up finding their happily ever after together.

I liked the book I am giving it a 5 star because it is well written but I got to say it was hard to keep my attention in the book I did love the ending but the story line was hard for me to get into all the way but I am giving it a good rating because it was really well done for those who like this kind of story.

What a brilliant twist to the hunger games, at first had a dim view of the Daniels and there shenanigans until I learnt what drives them to go all-out.

Absolutely captivating and heartening storyline with a whole load of action scenes thrown in to get the blood roaring.

Loved it and Ares made a cameo so what was not to like.

This is a fast-paced, fake relationship romance with defined MCs. The hero is a billionaire wanting to participate in a married-only game, while the heroine he approaches to be his partner needs money for her son's transplant. There is drama, steam, and a possible HEA. I liked this engaging book.

Davin and Ashley are wonderful characters. Unknowingly, Ashley works for Davin's company. Ashley's son has a heart issue and needs surgery ASAP, but Ashley needs money. Davin needs a fake wife for a contest. This has suspense, sexy scenes, fake marriage to a billionaire.

This is a nice fake relationship story with a pinch of suspenseful. The story premise is interesting, the characters are well-drawn and the writing style has a flow. Unfortunately the book is a little rushed at some places and certain events are confusing/unnecessary. All in all, a nice read.
