Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I really wanted to like this, but it felt a little off to me. The artwork is beautiful! That alone made the graphic novel worth it for me and is the main reason I rated this at three stars.
However, the characters didn’t really feel like themselves and the story somehow felt both drawn out and rushed at the same time. It felt as though no one was quite sure how to have Anna’s character and personality shine through in this format.
With the other graphic novels in this series, when I read the dialogue I could almost hear it coming from the character’s voices. The dialogue in this felt bland in comparison to dialogue from other Frozen works.
And Elsa’s absence was very forced, only until her to grand return to Anna’s side when the problem was already solved. The story kept forcing reasons for Anna to be alone without subtly. I still don’t fully understand why the rocks were falling but that could be on me. I loved the themes of nature conversation and the responsibility to take care of the earth. If we’re going off the idea that Anna and Elsa together are the bridge (“a bridge had two sides, Mother has two daughters”) I enjoyed getting to see Anna’s side of this protection of nature.
I love Frozen and this beautifully illustrated graphic novel is worth the read if you’re a Frozen fan, but it didn’t quite meet the mark of what I wanted from this Anna centered story.

Even though Frozen has never been my absolute favorite Disney movie, I really enjoyed this story. Anna and the Mystery of the Mountains is a fun graphic novel that follows Queen Anna after the events of Frozen 2, when mysterious rockslides begin threatening the peaceful kingdom of Arendelle. Determined to protect her home, Anna heads into the mountains to uncover the cause.

What I really loved about this book was the message. It does a great job teaching younger readers about nature conservation and how the damage humans do to the environment can take years before the consequences finally show up. That’s a powerful lesson, and I liked how it was woven naturally into the story.

The artwork is bright and engaging, and I also enjoyed the journal pages from Anna’s perspective—they made the adventure feel more personal and helped connect readers to her character even more.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable graphic novel with a meaningful message, and I’d definitely recommend it to younger Frozen fans or anyone who enjoys Disney graphic novels.

This story read really simplistically. I also do not have any familiarity with the original story having never watched Frozen. This is the first of several stories which star characters from Disney stories in additional "adventures." (I have one more in this episode and three to come in the next one.) These stories alternate between traditional graphic novel panels and a full page of text which read like diary entries although nothing indicates that Anna is writing these entries. Sometimes these sections of text work but other times it feels like a bit of a cheat to the narrative. This specific story felt highly didactic which did not work for me.

I enjoyed most of the book. I LOVED Anna’s passion for wildlife and conservation I really do we get more of that in Frozen 3! She would be my all time favorite princess if so! However, I don’t really understand why the rocks were falling all the time…I wish they explained that better? Maybe they did and I missed something? But I feel that could have been more drawn out and gone deeper with the concept. I could hear the characters voices while reading the story, I LOVE when that happens lol. There are a LOT of really great quotes throughout. All in all a good book, just some things that I wished were clearer. But would definitely recommend reading it to anyone who’s a princess fan!

Set after Frozen 2, this short graphic novel follows Anna as she solves a totally non-magical problem facing her new kingdom on her own. There's a heavy environmental theme, a lot like the Ariel graphic novel in this series. I actually liked the implementation more here, because it felt a little more subtle and showed more actual, on the ground work to make things work. Sure, the proto science museum at the end was a little heavy handed, and it did kind of feel like Elsa was shuffled off in a slightly unnatural way.

I love the drawings and the story in this book. I was disappointed that it combines comic book style with Anna’s own words in paragraph form. I wanted it to be all in paragraph form with drawings throughout. I would also enjoy seeing this as a short movie.

Another exquisitely fast read, Rhona Cleary’s “Anna and the Mystery of the Mountains,” is my unplanned book of the month! While organizing my bookshelf, I realized I had completely forgotten this story and wanted to squeeze it in this month (even if I’m running behind now). This graphic novel is part of the “Disney Adventure Journal” series, all princess stories taking place after the events of the film, as our favorite heroines chronicle their new lives.

Just months after Anna’s coronation, mysterious boulders sporadically fall from the mountains, injuring the village and its inhabitants. Now called to the crisis, Queen Anna must travel to the top of the strange mountain to uncover the source of this turmoil. Without the help of Elsa and Kristoff, Anna must rapidly learn about the diverse flora and fauna of her kingdom, master survival skills to navigate the harsh weather and rugged terrain, and, most importantly, to trust herself to save Arendelle and all of her people.

If I can give this short tale anything, it’s that the artwork is beautiful and worthy on that alone. I love the landscape shots, showcasing the gorgeous Norwegian mountains with the most beautiful colors. The characters are wonderfully drawn and so expressive!

Unfortunately, the story fell short for me. As mentioned in my review of the Ariel book in this series, these novels are only 98 pages and are forced to tell a whole story in limited page space. While Ariel’s felt rushed, Anna’s lacked depth and detail, failing to explain precisely why the boulders were falling in the first place. As a reader without knowledge of how rockslides work, the reasoning for the sudden incidents didn’t add up.

The conservation messages were lovely and made perfect sense within the story, though reminded me a bit of an 80’s PSA. Not to compare again, but Ariel’s tale also deals with habitat destruction, but its secondary focus on the arctic mermaids made it compelling. Anna’s adventure really needed something extra to make it more digestible.

Despite my lackluster opinion, I do love this series, and I can’t wait to read “Tiana and the Magic of Harlem” when it releases NEXT WEEK!

Anna fühlt sich verantwortlich und will der Ursache auf den Grund gehen. Dabei begibt sie sich mit einer kleiner Gruppe in die Berge. Sie findet heraus, dass der Bau des Schlosses unmittelbar mit dem Erdrutsch zusammenhängt. Kann sie das Unheil abwenden und Arendelle retten?

Das Cover gefällt mir richtig gut. Es zeigt eine entschlossene Anna und das Schloss von Arendelle im Hintergrund. Die Farben sind in Pastelltönen gehalten, sodass man ein Gefühl von Frühling bekommt. Der Zeichenstil ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, da er vom Zeichenstil des Films abweicht. Man kann jedoch Anna, Elsa und ihre Freunde ganz klar erkennen.

Anna ist Königin von Arendelle und Elsa kümmert sich um das Volk im verzauberten Wald. Die Handlung beginnt somit nach dem 2. Teil der Eiskönigin. Es ist sicherlich hilfreich die Geschichte der Eiskönigin 1 und 2 zu kennen, damit man die Kräfte von Elsa versteht und auch die Konstellation der einzelnen Charaktere.

Ich finde es schön, dass Anna in den Vordergrund gerückt wird. Sie ist für mich die stärkere und mutigere Schwester. Sie nimmt ihre Rolle als Königin sehr ernst und fühlt sich auch für die Vorfälle verantwortlich, obwohl sie nichts dafür kann. Ich kann ihren Mut nur immer wieder bestaunen. Sie marschiert selbstlos mit einem Team in die Berge und versucht eine Lösung für das Problem zu finden. Ich finde es jedoch ein wenig Schade, dass die anderen Charaktere dabei so in den Hintergrund geraten. Denn eigentlich meistern sie ihre Abenteuer stets gemeinsam.

Der Comic ist für mich ein klares Highlight, denn er macht auf ein wichtiges Thema aufmerksam. Es wird die Zerstörung der Natur thematisiert, die durch uns Menschen verursacht wird. Die Geschichte zeigt sehr verständlich, dass wir mit unserem Handeln Spuren in der Natur hinterlassen und dass wir verantwortlich dafür sind. Wir sind zudem in der Pflicht dies zu korrigieren, was wir zerstört haben oder zumindest es wieder in einen Zustand zu bringen, in dem die Natur fortbestehen kann.

Ich finde es toll, dass ein so wichtiges Thema kindgerecht veranschaulicht wird. Es ist aber nicht nur eine Geschichte für Kinder, sondern für Erwachsene ebenso.

A nice read if you like Frozen. It takes place in the spring after the second movie.

This is the second Disney graphic novel in this series (the first was a Little Mermaid sequel) and both are leaning heavily on environmental and nature conservation themes. To be fair, it’s a nice change of pace, but this one bordered on preachy.

I also didn’t like how dismissive Anna was to Elsa. If you are having problems with the environment, don’t you think you would benefit from having the help of a literal manifestation of a nature spirit?
