Surrounded by mercenaries in the middle of a Serbian forest, there's only one way out. Kill or be killed is nothing new to a CIA officer, but I never thought I’d have to do it to protect an attempted mass murderer.
We’d hoped Dr. Omarov could lead us to the group that paid him to create a lethal neurotoxin, but every revelation brings more questions than answers. There’s no telling how long we have before they get their hands on another weapon, and it’s going to take all our resources to stop them before they hurt anyone else.
I usually live for the chase—throwing myself in front of danger to keep others out of it. But for the first time in my life, I’d rather be home.
Now that Scott has accepted my double life, our insatiable chemistry is long overdue—stolen moments, heated glances, and a whole new minefield of secrecy to keep our stories straight. Clearly my lifestyle isn’t built for relationships, and as our mission continues, I can’t help but wonder if I’ll ever be able to give him the life he wants.
I’ve always known my secrets would come with a price.
I just never expected to pay it so soon.
*This is the second book in the Alexis Cole trilogy
Right when you get to the good juicy info....BOOM....next book, please. Don't get me wrong, I love the story, the intrigue, the romance... I'm just used to reading 1000 plus pages, and it feels like it goes so quickly. Happy Reading!
This is the sequel to You Can Hate Me later and I liked it better than I did the first. The spy parts of this book were still more interesting to me than the romance but the relationship between Lily and Scott was, I feel, better fleshed out in this story.
I am pretty sure, however, that Paige calls Lily Alexis at one point in the book - so maybe a mistake? To be fair, I was on some painkillers when I was reading it so maybe I'm wrong.
Either way, I liked the story, it was better than the first book and I'll be reading the third installment when it comes out.
It was better than the first, but I'm honestly questioning why these were broken into 3 books instead of one. So far books one and two fit a lot of elements from Save the Cat Writes a YA Novel by Jessica Brody, so splitting them into 3 books felt unnecessary.
