Chuka by Richard Jessup (1961, 160 pgs., A Fawcett Gold Medal Book, $0.50) was an excellent read. I really like author Jessup as he tells a great story no matter what genre he tackles (juvenile-delinquent, crime fiction, western...), and his prose is always exceptional. I read this because BookTube is having a western read month called June On The Range and I thought Chuka would be a perfect choice...and it was. It's about a drifter/gunslinger who gets caught up with an army fort full of failures, misfits and malcontents that is soon to be attacked by Indians. Along with that main plot-line there is a number of dramatic sub-plot-lines to keep the story juicy...AND...this is without a doubt the most brutal western I've ever read. Jessup really knows how to dish-up the action and blood & guts....So, it you like the occasional western like I do put Chuka on your TBR list...I highly recommend...5.0 outta 5.0...

An RJ. Colorado Western Action Adventure (C) (EGVE)

RJ. has penned a Colorado western action adventure titled, "Chuka" which begins with three men approaching an Army Post in Central Colorado enroute to Montana. One is an ex Army scout, one is an ex Yankee soldier and the other a gunman named Chuka. There are two women traveling from New York to California. One is an older escort and the other a young woman who did not want to marry a man in New York. Indians attack the fort and slowly but surely the Indians manage a o kill everyone except for two survivors. This is an excellent read for the genre.....Rod Taylor starred in the movie Chuka.....DEHS

Excellent book, but

too many typos. Also, please learn the differences between singular, plural, singular possessive, and plural possesive tenses. Almost every usage in this book was wrong.
