We live in troubled times. Our world is changing rapidly, and we are struggling to adapt, and sometimes just to survive. In some ways our struggles are unique, but they are also the same kinds of struggles faced by generations of people throughout history. Drawing on the rich resources of Scripture and other ancient writings, this book relates those timeless truths to today's troubled times, offering words of encouragement and hope to anyone seeking solace and strength from God's eternal promises.
Wendi Gordon is an inspirational author, speaker, and minister. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from Texas Lutheran University and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. She and her husband Steve reside in Hawaii, where she spends her free time enjoying the underwater world while snorkeling and diving. She is also an avid reader, and especially likes murder mysteries.
Troubled Times shares experiences from the author and similar ones that we have experienced as well with biblical scriptures that are widely used as favorites, or for funerals, or special occasions. Although we may be persecuted, ridiculed, mocked, or undergo hardships, we can refer to these scriptures to keep us uplifted, encouraged, and even better, we have Jesus Christ to turn to and help us overcome the evil forces of the enemy.
Moreover, I enjoyed how the author showed compassion and love among others as Jesus Christ commands us. Many of us go through the "endless cycle" of loving and living for the Lord, then sin enters in, and we continue to cry to God when things are bad, but we have to repent and confess our sin, and then we are back into His loving arms...but then again, we sin. The good news is that God never remembers once we confess and never gets tired of forgiving and rescuing us from the bottomless pit over and over again. Yet, we have to see the "error of our ways" and seek after God to forgive us. I liked the term "God in flesh" meaning someone in our lives who are walking examples of Jesus Christ.
Wendi has written short chapters and personal reflection after each chapter, to see yourself in the mirror and seeking for Jesus' perfection.

This book is a generous expression of sharing, compassion, and understanding from a true expert. Wendi provides meaningful explanations of pertinent biblical passages as they relate to what so many people are experiencing in modern times. Beautifully and accessibly written, those of Christian faith will find much comfort in the wisdom shared. The additional “questions for personal reflection” at the end of each section add extra depth to the information presented in the book. Wendi has an honest and real connection to what is happening in our world today, and she shows how we can each do our part to be of service. “The key is to live in love,” she writes. Through inspiring and throught provoking sentiments, she reminds us that there is always hope and that we are always loved. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and know that the information contained within will serve as a great blessing to many others.
