The Wheel of the Wiccan Year

Rate this book
The eight Wiccan festivals mark the turning of the seasons. The nature-based beliefs of Wicca connect with the natural world and the sense of spiritual heritage. In this book the core beliefs of Wicca and the significance of the festivals are examined. What do the festivals mark and how do they relate to traditional spiritual beliefs and to our lives today? The way in which the festivals are celebrated through rituals, affirmations, spells, songs and chants is also looked at. The book also features information on how to create oils, candles, incense, food and wine for the celebrations and rituals for both the lone practitioner as well as for groups.

Good ideas about celebrating equinoxes, solstices, and all the good stuff in between. I take anything pagan with huge grains of salt (especially Lammas bread, mmm) and have no use for lords and ladies and suchlike. But the earth turns, the seasons change (especially here in England), and I'm always down for a hootenanny.

Good book for staying in touch with the cycles of the year, instead of always being face down in urban life.

A really good introduction to the Neopagan/Wiccan festivals - filled with correspondences, activities, lore, history and ritual ideas. A must-have for any witch's bookshelf.

A handy reference and guide for the sabbats. I have used this book as a basis for forming my own celebrations and sabbat traditions.
