Fast to read and easy to follow for non-breastfeeding mums. I will cherry pick here and there what I want to keep for my child but I don't think I can blindly follow all. The perspective is quite simplistic, a bit old fashion (recommending things that pediatritian don't recommend anymore) and the approach a bit military style. Also the writing is a bit "I know it all" attitude. I cannot really believed that worked 100% all the time in all circumstances.
I highly recommend this book as a refresher course on how to establish healthy sleep habits early. I read this book before welcoming my second child and found it to be a helpful reminder to what I already knew
Positives: - A very quick read (important when you have a newborn) that highlights the major components of sleep hygiene with your newborn
Negatives: - I don’t know if I would recommend for a first time mother who is learning everything for the first time. This book can be a bit rigid in its approach and may be discouraging if you don’t hit milestones in the exact timeframe or in the order the author recommends.
It is not as decisively helpful as Ferber's book on sleep training and not as amusing as Druckerman's book on French parenting. It is a sleep-training fantasy read.
