For the opening scene, I found it hard to distinguish the characters (not being used to reading plays), but found a YouTube video which made them visual, so then I could distinguish them. (The video was a pirate, with some theatre-goers silhouettes in shot from time to time, so I couldn’t watch it all.)
The play was groundbreaking for its time and still carries resonances today. There are some clever references back and forward in time and recurring themes which are interesting to map and unravel. Those became more apparent on second reading (it isn’t long!)
I’m glad to know the work and look forward to reflecting on it at reading group.
