The world economy is slowly failing and a global monetary system is immanent. GUILE is responsible for making it happen. If they can make America fall, everything else will fit into place as the other nations topple like dominoes. They tripped up the USA with the attacks of 9/11. But after the World Trade Towers fell, there was only increased American pride. This is not what they had hoped for. They need to be subtle and use destruction of a non-suspicious nature. How can they do this and not implicate themselves? GUILE is responsible for it all and is looking for a new scapegoat to take the blame. The organization is cunning and believes money, time, and ingenuity is on their side until a group of young Americans come across their plot and save the world.
Beguiled is an exciting novel of a world-wide conspiracy. Joanne Lyons does a wonderful job of weaving together historical facts with a fictional conspiracy theory which in turn produces a story that will leave the reader wondering if the situation is more than a story. The main plot is very exciting and the subplots are used in such a way as to develop the characters so that they seem very real. As a result of her ability, Ms Lyons was able to create a story about normal people doing not so normal things in their attempt to save their country in a way which seems more real than other works of fiction in this genre. This book is a must read.
