Powerful poems zealously advocate strength of spirit through subjugation and hardship. Nadia Scrieva’s work exhibits a wide spectrum of emotions; from tender, nurturing feelings to violent yearnings for vengeance. Her writing is characterized by using extreme hyperbole of distances and time, in addition to finding meaning in the tiniest details such as pixels or fallen pennies. The book is organized by an overarching metaphor of the self as a natural resource. It is raw in its most natural state, beautiful and capable--but through the refining processes of pain, injustice, and disappointment, the self can transform itself into something magnificent. Her writing is often cynical and sarcastic with regard to the fleeting nature of relationships, but ultimately hopeful and enthusiastic regarding the vivacity and faculties of the individual and their spirit.
Nadia Scrieva lives in Toronto, Canada with no husband, no kids, and no pets. She does own a very attractive houseplant which she occasionally remembers to water between her all-consuming writing marathons.
I felt like I was reading her journal.... a journal so brilliantly written that at times I sat with tears pouring down my face as I read, sometime feeling the anger vividly, and sometimes laughing out loud. So raw... so emotional .... just brilliant writing... really.
I have to say that I used to LOVE poetry when I was a teenager/ young adult. Since that time, I have hesitated to buy any poetry ... because it seems that every author thinks they are a poet.... when very few really are... Well, Nadia Scrieva IS A EXTREMELY GIFTED POET.
The only reason I didn't read this in one sitting is because of the emotions sometimes involved... It's a meal that needs to be consumed slowly and savored... (oh and I am deeply involved in reading Nadia Scrieva's Sacred Breath series.... and it's incredible).
If you have ever been a fan of poetry, and like me, wondered why there wasn't any decent poetry anymore... then I recommend Vertically Integrated Passion to you... you won't be sorry :)
Now I just need a hard copy.... there is something special about a great book of poetry in my hands while I wander the park with my doggy...
Look deep in her eyes: Absolutely incredible read ,the book covers an immense number of different phases of her life. It's so rare a girl is so open fascinating and revealing speaking as a male quiet refreshing!
