They hadn't touched since that night fifteen years before but Donna Barrett still recognized the desire in Jake Lonergan's eyes. And the guilt. For he'd sought to make her his when she'd been his cousin's girl. It had been their secret...until she fled town with a bigger one.
Now, Jake was determined that Donna's son rightfully be given the Lonergan name -- his honor demanded it. But it was passion that drove Jake to claim the woman he'd only tasted years before -- claim her and brand her his own.
USA Today best selling author Maureen Child is the author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas. Maureen is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing.
Under her own name, Maureen writes short contemporary novels for Silhouette Desire—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling. Maureen is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances for NAL and darker paranormal stories for Silhouette Nocturne.
Maureen writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings
DNF at 31% Donna the b*tch, Jake the a-hole and little Eric, oh yeah and Mac, the dead guy. Did not like the MCs at all. Why did she keep Eric from the rest of his family and why is she still? Well, no good reason apparently. Both MCs strike me as self pitying cowards. I found myself not caring how it ends and reading other stuff instead, so what's the point of continuing?...
Even though they aren't marked down or reviewed yet, I've read all of this series and found it bittersweet. The three mens lives move on but Mac will forever be gone. I thought this book was good but I couldn't help but feel the loss that the series was over.

15 years ago, Donna Barrett stopped herself from taking the final step with Jake Lonergan. Not because she didn't want too, but because she was dating his cousin. But tragedy struck the four close cousins when Mac Lonergan drowned that summer, never getting to know his son.
Now, she's back home with her mother and 15 year old son, Eric. Also back in town is bad boy, motorcycle racer, Jake Lonergan.
He's never gotten over that night that could have been. Now, when the Lonergan family learns about Mac's son, the cousins are excited to get to know him.
Although she knows her son needs men in her life, Donna is cautious about her son hanging out with the Lonergan's. Especially Jack.
Jack who is constantly pursuing Donna and trying to win her over for the final time.
Both Jack and Donna grow for the better and accept the past and begin a life together.
This one is a bit more angsty than the others in the series. Jack hasn't been back for years. Not only is he grieving his cousins death but he feels guilty. Because he wanted his cousins girlfriend and on the night before the accident, he kissed her.
Donna ran away from Jack because she liked him too much. She ran straight to her boyfriend filled with guilt. Now, she has a teenage son and he's a Lonergan through and through.
Jack is determined Mac's son will be a part of the family. And that means Donna too. The same attraction is still there but the guilt and the grief still stand between them.
