On the surface, Chloe Steele appears to be a normal eighteen-year-old girl, but underneath, she carries a dark secret. This secret propels her onto a journey that takes her to rural southeast Alabama, where she serves as a live-in caregiver for the elderly Les and Nellie Grady while attending the local college. When she meets the handsome, yet mysterious Will Finncannon, however, Chloe's path of self-discovery takes a dark turn, leading her into a world she never knew existed--a world where the line between fantasy and reality is sometimes blurred.
This was a great read by a local author involving a young woman who grew up in Auburn, Alabama and moved to Gordon, Alabama to go to Troy University and help care for a relative of her foster mother who has developed Alzheimers in trade for room and board. Through in a little paranormal background, it's a great read!
I just could not get into the book. I did not like the author's writing style at all and she most definitely couldn't keep me interested. The best part of the book was the fact that I'm a local girl too and grew up in Gordon. Actually knowing the places discussed was fun but that's it. I was hoping for so much more.
Despite misspellings distracting me and slowing me down the story is good. I could not put it down and read it in two days. Looking forward to this new author's next book. A sequel, maybe?
