About the author

Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

SUPER FAST REVIEW:
So darn cute!
This one has a lot of cute animals. The story is nice, the artwork is wonderful, the situations are very humorous (laughed all throughout this book) and it’s sometimes surprisingly unpredictable.
I don’t give a shit how old I am, I love these books.

Summary:
Biscuit and his best friend are feeding all the animals on the farm, but one tricky pig keeps getting out of the pin! When the geese scare them out of the gate, the piglet ends up back in the pin where he belongs. The two unlikely friends come together on this fun day at the farm!

Evaluation:
This is a cute story that would be fun for students to read along with the teacher. I enjoyed reading through to see what all the piglet gets in to. The pictures throughout the book also help the reader to follow along with the story.

Teaching Idea:
This book would be useful in teaching animals and animal sounds to beginning readers. Students can use the pictures to match the animal to the words and mimic their animal sounds!

Biscuit has a fun day at the farm. He help feeds the hens, pigs, goats, sheep, & the geese. Biscuit was a little afraid but some of the farm animals wanted to play. Biscuit finds himself being a friendly animal to the farm animals.

Cute for early readers. Biscuit and his friend spend a day helping the farmer and feeding various animals. Put a determined piglet keeps escaping and following them. Classically adorable illustrations as with all biscuit books. Interesting enough to hold attention for young emerging readers, without being too complex.

My 2-year old son found this especially enjoyable after we took a field trip to a farm. He was able to identify and remember petting all the animals in the story. We especially liked the end because neither one of us are fans of the certain animal which chases Biscuit.

This book was about a dog name Biscuit. He spends a day at the farm. He takes care of some animals with a little girl. They take care of pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens. At the end of the day Biscuit falls asleep with the pigs. It is a good book.

Biscuit helps out on the farm feeding the hens. They go to feed the pigs and the piglet is out. They put the piglet back in its pen and proceed the feeding of other animals and they discover the piglet is out the pen again. They put the piglet up.again and Biscuit was back in the pen too.

Biscuit and his owner rescue some escaped piglets on a farm. In the reading experience, this feels paternalistic and kind, but of course, we want those piglets saved now so we can devour them later. What a strange, and strangely common, scenario for a children’s book.

It's a shared reader book but my new reader daughter loved it. Some good repetition and the cute pictures help to keep her interest.
