An author was murdered, in what appears to be an excellent career move. The criminal who confesed to the crime, died of cancer before the trial. Journalist Karen Chandler hires Matthew Shelley to do some investigating for her article, and together they come up with some interesting facts...
Great descriptions, strong characters, sometimes confusing storyline but that certainly kept me hooked. I loved the two main characters and the way they bounced off each other. So sad the author was unable to write further books around them. For me, they were a winning combination. Some excellent red herrings. Always a pleasure to read books reflecting the period in which they were written, con juring up incidents and lifestyles once so familiar.
The author had a talent that I have been delighted to discover.
It's one of the best thrillers I have ever read. A perfect flawless mind blowing murder mystery. Matthew and Karen get involved in one of the most baffling murder cases. There were plenty of surprises throughout the book. I must say it is amazing and would be a blockbuster if made into a movie. Wow,
What a bumbling pair of misfits! Matthew with starting out in his new business, and Karen, whose always on her "high horse". Though, Matthew does eventually work it out, in his round about way. Certainly a different read.
Mathew Shelley unlikely hero, crooked cops, gangsters. Excellent twists and turns throughout. Really enjoyable plenty of characters and a twist in the tail.
