Familiar scenes of brutality and corruption; fear and coercion, they were filtering their way into every part of daily life, slowly corroding the fragile balance between Bonders and humans. Like a cancer in every cell of our social and cultural autonomy, the rise of the Vampires, their monolithic need for revenge and control, threatened to destroy the collective body from the inside out. I felt sick. Not physically sick, but the kind of deep mental fatigue that seeps into your soul, your core. A sickness that makes you question your very presence on the earth and makes you wonder if letting go, if not holding on, if that’s the better choice...

I tried to read this, I really did. However, in the first 30 pages there were at least 6 painfully obvious typos/grammatical errors. Personally, these errors are a huge distraction and the author/editor loses all credibility which makes it impossible to enjoy the story.
The story itself is confusing. The author tries to explain the Bonder/Human relationship but I feel like there needs to be more history given or concise explanations. Maybe it would have become more clear if I were able to get more than 30 pages in.
The writing style is not my vibe, personally. This is a supposed 'spicy' book, yet f*ck is censored to frick..which just becomes humorous. But that's the least of this book's issues.
Overall, very disappointed. I bought the entire trilogy in an effort to get into the Fantasy realm but I will be looking elsewhere now.
I had such a hard time putting this down! There were so many twists and turns in the plot it was both exciting and spicy! The main character definitely has a lot going on, I am very excited to begin the next book in the series. I wish so much that this series wasn't out of print because I want my own copies (the ones I am reading were loaned to me by a friend) but I cannot find them anywhere!
If you're into paranormal romance, but tired of the same old places and vampires, then this book is for you. Ana is a postgraduate student in Indonesia, who discovers she is bonded to a Demon, which then upends her entire life and forces her to become more than she thought possible. I enjoyed the story and its characters, and thought it was a fun read. The only things that bothered me, and which are the reason for the 3 instead of 4 stars, is one, the font of the book is very distracting. It is not the normal Times New Roman or Courier, and my eyes got distracted very easily. Second, the book really could have used one more editorial pass. This may not bother some readers, but I kept stumbling when I would read a misspelled homophone, i.e. "vile" for "vial", or "shutter" for "shudder." Still, the story did keep me engaged up to the end, and I kept turning the page to see what happened next. I may even pick up a copy of the sequel to see where Ana goes next...
