This long out-of-print style guide is by far the single best work on contemporary American English usage I have read. So well written and witty, it's a pleasure to read cover to cover. If you can find this book, buy it. It is indispensable to good writing and holds a cherished place on my bookshelf. They truly don't make them like they used to.
