Amish of Lancaster #3

Pastures of Faith

Rate this book
In Pastures of Faith, the third book in the Amish of Lancaster Series, Daniel Lapp is a young Amish man, content with his life farming and not looking toward the future. Rachel Lapp is a distant cousin from Ohio who is sent to live on Daniel's father's farm.

Daniel doesn't know what to make of her strange ways and reserved demeanor. But he does know that he isn't looking to settle down with anyone. He'd rather be left alone to work in the dairy barn and fields alongside his father.

Yet, when Daniel begins to learn more about Rachel and the reasons why she was sent to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he begins to see her in a different light and realizes that there is more to the quiet, stern cousin than meets the eye.

After studying the Amish for over 25 years, Sarah Price delivers one more book that will inspire your heart and soul. Based on her own authentic experiences living among the Amish, Sarah Price provides a real look inside the often secret life of the Amish. Readers will not be disappointed.

WHAT READERS SAY:

For fifteen years, I never thought another Amish author could come close to Beverly Lewis...until I read Sarah Price. (Karen Anna Vogel, Best-Selling Author of Amish Knitting Circle and Knit Together: An Amish Knitting Novel).
---------
I absolutely love your books. We first visited Lancaster County 20 years ago on our honeymoon and have been visiting as frequently as possible. I consider the area my second home. Reading your books make me a little less homesick! They are so wonderfully written that I feel like I am there! Thank you. (Alice B. from North Haven, CT)
--------
Your books capture the heart and soul of the Amish.....both as individuals and in the spirit of their religion. They are insights into a world of unknowns for many people. How can a reader not feel inspired and fulfilled after reading Hills of Wheat and Fields of Corn? It is life with all its issues and hills and valleys. Well done, Sarah. (Eleanor H. from Florida)

I just finished "Pastures Of Faith" by Sarah Price. It is the 3rd in a series of 5 books. And through I liked this book the first book "Fields Of Corn" is my favorite one so far. Rachel's mother is killed by some English boys and Rachel cannot get over it and move on like the Amish are supposed to do so her dad sends her to his cousin's farm to heal and then Daniel finds himself drawn to her. I give it 5 starsI I like the fact that the author brings all the characters into the next story as well as bringing new ones in.

Okay there are so many things that could have been changed so the book wasn’t as uh cringey? Weird? Illegal in some places?
Why did they have to be second cousins? Do family friends exist? maybe their parents could have been neighbors? there other ways for people to meet without being related. The main characters are second cousins. They are each other’s love interest. They get married.
The whole thing about Rachel having trauma about her mother being murdered was a good twist on the trope of young people are teenagers being moody just because they are young and her dad sending her away because he thinks he can help sounds plausible. Again, maybe he could have send her to his family and then she could have fallen in love with the neighbor or her cousin’s friend but nope, she gotta marry the cousin.
How Daniel reacted to the possibility of her being a sexual abuse survivor was disgusting. How it raised questions about her virtue at the end of the book instead of showing how strong she is and how hard it was for her to get involved in the community and open up to the rest of her family, was bit hard to read.

I really liked Jake and Sylvia as being soft rule breaker but not really? Because she married an outsider. then made him a part of community without losing a bit of his modern ways? Loved that.

Pasties of Faith is the third inspiring book written by Sarah Price in her Amish of Lancaster series. In this very enduring story Daniel Lapp is thrown together with Rachel Lapp when she is sent to live in Lancaster County. Daniel wants nothing more than to be left to his dairy farming but as he gets to understand more of Rachel's story he decides to try to be helpful. This author has written this series through her experience living on an Amish farm and her sincerity really shows in her writing. The characters are very likeable and I enjoyed learning their personal stories.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

A really good book.. after a terrible accident involving her mom Rachel is sent by her dad to live with the Lapp family, her relatives. Rachel fights feelings she is having but wants to fit in with her new family. After becoming good friends with Daniel Lapp, Rachel has found the friend she has been dreaming of.

Wonderful

Two words come to mind about the story: tragedy and redemption. The healing of a young Amish woman who sent far away from her home to forget the tragedy is inspiring.

Not edited

Other books I've read that Sarah Price has written were great. This is her worst I've read. The editing apparently didn't happen. Using the word statue instead of stature frequently, poorly composed sentences, bad grammar, other words used incorrectly like your instead of you're and worse! If you prefer a well written book with good grammar, this is one to avoid.
