In a dark, desolate region of space there is a scream. No one can hear it and it fades as quickly as it started, but it sets off a series of events that could cost the crew of the colony freighter, Silver Falcon, their lives. When Captain Sydney “Mac” MacNierney answers what he and his crew believes is a distress call in a region of space aptly named “No Man’s Land”, he opens the door to a living nightmare that they might never wake from. For hidden within the ancient ship, feeding off of seventeen-hundred crewmen trapped in more than eighty years of their own nightmare filled stasis is a parasite, and its only goal is to eat and expand. When Mac and his crew dare to rescue the last three survivors aboard the ship, it does what it must to ensure its own survival.Locked away inside of Tara’s mind are memories of a past forgotten. But as she and the Silver Falcon’s crew battle the creature that has infested their ship, she starts to remember, and what she sees terrifies her. In her nightmares the pain and death of more than a century starts to surface. There was no surviving it a hundred years ago, and there is no surviving it now.Tara finds that she will risk everything to ensure that history is not repeated, and that this crew…her crew…survives. There is nothing she won’t sacrifice to make sure that everyone she loves survives this time, even if what she must sacrifice is her own life.
I found this book to be surprisingly good, and read it through in a couple of day. I appreciated that the author focused the story on a likable cast of characters and didn't turn it into the cheap gore-fest I was expecting this to be. If you are looking for a straight up horror novel, you'll probably be disappointed, but it's a solid sci-fi thriller.
good plot especially the ending, well thought out, it keeped me guessing up untill the end and then some, needs a sequel but otherwise definatly worth the 5 stars
