Toume d’Nezuhmy, son of a clan chief, has just received an offer for a critical mission: fly his ship to the far side of the world and deliver a secret package to a friendly clan. Toume is excited, but nervous. The future of the five clans weighs upon his skill as a pilot to avoid danger and keep the package safe.
If he is successful, he wins not only the praise and acclaim of his father, but will earn the permission of the Drakhen high priestess to marry her daughter. Such a marriage will certify his clan’s position and bring strength to an alliance under threat from rival clans.
All is not as simple as it seems. The mysterious item in the package is beyond valuable. Others will kill to get it. If Toume fails his mission, his clan will fall into ruin. To succeed means using every bit of ability Toume can gather.
Amazon bestselling author Marc B. DeGeorge has always wanted to be an astronaut, but since he failed his mission at Space Camp, he now writes science fiction stories with a human focus. In his spare time, Marc works a full-time job for a major manufacturer of professional audio equipment and has taught audio technology at the college level. He’s also been studying the shamisen for over sixteen years and performs regularly around the Eastern US.
This is an incredibly imaginative world about a planet of people forced to live high in the sky. Every moment is tinged with danger as the slightest mistake sends them plummeting to the ground.
With a small cast of core characters, Marc DeGeorge brought out the full range of emotions from them and us readers. He wove an interesting story filled with mystery and adventure. Its characters sought to answer how they arrived on the planet and how they can band together to survive.
This story would be perfect for anyone who likes the feeling of a sky pirate tale, though with less piracy and swashbuckling.
I loved Toume, and this new series. The world(s) are very unique but clearly described so I could imagine them very easily. His motivations were always logical, even if I wanted to occasionally throttle his neck and say, "just say no!" Looking forward to book 2!
