I rarely RARELY put a book down after starting it, and I'm not the delicate type, but I was a bit horrified by the first chapter. Then in the second chapter, when the "real" characters were introduced (not the story within a story), I couldn't keep track of who was talking and I only got to page 32 before the mindless chatter started to completely bore me and I began to tune out.

Read this many years back, and loved it at the time, so am baffled by so many poor reviews but don’t recall enough detail to contrast and compare. What I remember was understanding completely why it was a bestseller in Australia, as I found it hilarious, outrageous and sexy as hell. I kept wondering how it wound up on the shelf of my local library here in the USA...did they realize how wonderfully smutty it was? Anyway, I just have to surmise that those who didn’t like it simply don’t like sexy stories that also keep you laughing throughout.

My best friend, Elizabeth, gave me this awesome book for Christmas while in college. If you're not hooked within reading the first chapter in the supermarket, then I feel bad for you since you must be asexual. HOT HOT HOT! I also discovered the name "Philippa" for the first time and kind of fell in love with it.

Really funny! Fantastic if you like erotica and a good intro if you've never read it. The is the only erotica book I've read...it was so much fun and a quick read as well. Many a laughs were had as I read this book aloud to two girlfriends in the car on our way to a VERY religious wedding ceremony. Eat Me mysteriously disappeared after that!

It's been a while since I read this book and I remember liking book a lot. Oh yeah and on occasion I smile to my self when in the produce aisle. Read it for yourself maybe you to will cruise the produce section a little differently with your own silent smile

Fairly naughty stories from the Outback. I always find things more erotic when they're set in some exotic location - like Australia.

Highly amusing, sections of the story are completely over the top, and there is certainly nothing held back. Also full of colorful characters. :)

Enjoyable read that came highly recommended to me.

Caveat emptor: This book is not for everyone. If you prefer the TBS version of "Sex and the City" because they bleep out the naughty bits... well, then, this isn't the book for you. Delicate sensibilities? Pass on this one.

If, however, you're a bit more open-minded and have a taste for humor, erotica, and a bit of raunchiness, then "Eat Me" makes for a fun read. I suppose it's the Australian version of SATC, but I never read Candace Bushnell's book, so I can't vouch for that. I can say, however, that this is a fun and sexy, sexy book. Once again, not for the prude of heart, but it would definitely make a good poolside read while in Vegas.

if you're looking for profound, lyrical prose, and rich characterization, this is not the book for you. however, if the idea of living in sexual fantasyland for a little while sounds appealing, then dish this book right up.

when the characters aren't actually having sex, they're probably talking about it, or the impact relationships have had on their lives, albeit in a cursory way. in that way, this is a dull read. the good news is that a) this book is relatively short and b) they dream up or experience some spicy little scenes, making this a quick, fluffy read.

This was such a treat to read while in Sydney! Deliciously naughty and from a woman's point of view. I liked how the author switched narrators so you got in everyone's head. Would recommend to all my friends that loved The Bridge Stripped Bare.

There is a lot of clever play going here. This is either a book of erotic fiction tied together with lose interplay of jokes around metafiction and food, or maybe a metafiction joke with food and sex to keep the reader interested, or a food diary with jokes and sex.

It was a first novel and had some earmarks that suggested it was that. Aside from referencing it inside the book itself, there was a feeling about it. The erotic parts themselves are also critiqued in the book as being a bit too straight fantasy while the characters are way more complex.

There are a lot of 90s tropes. Sure, it is Australia but the specificity makes the universal. The entanglement of the characters is fun once you realize it is happening. Many of the chapters are the style of folks drifting off and remembering their trysts. In some ways, this repetition beats home the point that so many of us have a rich sex life that isn't for public consumption. At least that is my hope.

A fun romp that I am going to give a female friend of mine who has been looking for dirty parts in popular bodice rippers. I think she will like this one. Maybe.

I was hesitantly skeptical going into this. I’ve never read “erotica”, and I had a lot of preconceived notions. At first I was a bit shocked and clutched my pearls.. I was like am I a prude?? I thought 1st this is too strange to turn me on (cos I was reading it like a normal book, anywhere..), and some of the stories are out there!! But the more I read, the more I relaxed, started to laugh and enjoy it. Some of them were actually quite awesome, and that’s the thing, I realised there was something for every taste, but written into the story that just flowed and worked, not going you whiplash. I have to say, it did NOT read like porn, this is extremely high quality writing, just for its self awareness, social conscious (yes hello! Very nice change from the post clarity ick you get from modern er.. depictions). There is no repetitiveness anywhere. The story of the trucky was my favourite, and the Japanese sushi session haha
Yes so they are more stories skewed towards food pleasure, unexpected strange new world for me. I genuinely did connect to the characters and enjoyed their depth. It got kinda meta at the end which was a little confusing.

This novel was erotic fiction with a confusing storyline that was hard to follow. The characters were funny and the sex stories were outlandish. This is not really something I would normally read but I got it for $1 at the Aiea Library Book Sale and I was expecting something more tame in nature like Sex in the City (and that's saying something).

Sexually unambiguous to its very staple, the only thing one could carry away from this novel is the strange and outlandish admixture of the food and copulation imageries. The story is mediocre, description cinematic. Teenagers might like it as a casual read for weekends. A one-time read that too. Pretty ordinary and unmemorable.
