Fantastic memoir of Craig Harrison that doesn’t shy away from the traumatic hell of war. And discussing the disgusting treatment of him after his service by our Government, surprised this hasn’t been picked up more in public.

Obviously, the treatment of his family after his tours cannot be condoned. But, in general I really did not like the book. I thought it would be a gripping read - it was not. The author actually comes across as detestable and leaves it hard to be a fan of his. I was better off not reading it.

And… for a sniper, he had more misses than Henry VIII

An insight into army life, the camaraderie and close bonds created. Also something of the horrors of the conflict in Iran and the war in Afghanistan. I was devastated to learn how badly Craig was treated after he was invalided out with severe PTSD. He served his country and shouldn’t have been disrespected in this way. Craig and his family were, maybe still are, in danger too from extremist reprisals, but they were not given the help they needed and deserved. There is a lot in this book which is eye opening. I sincerely hope that Craig and his family are now able to enjoy life.

Not for the faint-hearted and probably not for people who don’t have any military background.
Other than that, a very interesting read.
